What’s a “Pisatahua”? Pisatahua means blue dragonfly in the native Ese Ejja language. This name was given to us by Pisatahua’s original healer and spiritual guide Don Rómulo Miquery. Long before we began construction on the retreat-center, Don Rómulo visited our land and was amazed at the number of Motacu trees and dragonflies. Don Rómulo informed us that in the Ese Ejja cosmovision dragonflies represent personal transformation and provide a crucial link to the spirit realm. He explained that the most powerful and illusive are the blue dragonflies or “Pisatahua’s.” Don Rómulo left the physical world in 2016 but he forever remains a source of inspiration. We are so grateful to be working with Franz del Aguila for our 2021 retreats. An incredible healer and wonderful human being, we feel priveldged to learn and grow with him. ------- FRANZ FREYRE DEL AGUILA, is a Master Tobacco Healer. Originally from the Amazonian traditions of the Peruvian Jungle (Pucallpa), he currently resides with us in Bolivia. At the age of 15 he began an apprenticeship in the deep jungle and started dieting master plants. For the next 10 years he dedicated himself to a comprehensive training in the traditions of the Shipibo-Conibo Culture, a source of inexhaustible plant wisdom. While training as a plant medicine healer, Franz also went to the National University of Ucayali, studying agricultural engineering. Franz’s Master Plant is tobacco, however, he’s dieted and prepared nemerous medicines from Master Plants using their roots, barks, leaves, and flowers. Franz is an alchemist of the amazon and prepares medicines in the form of syrups, mother tinctures and floral baths to treat physical, mental, and spiritual ailments. He’s prepared ayahuasca for over 20 years and led retreats for the last 10. He also oversees diets of self-knowledge and introspection with master plants including ayahuasca, tobacco, coca, bobinsana, Ajo Sacha and Ajo Kiro. Franz del Aguila is truly a gifted healer, teacher and an individual of integrity.
