I kind of... really dont like Raiders? The game is fun, the characterization of deep cut is funny, and the art and aethetics are really good. its just... the story is god awful to me...

The story is basically just the premise of being cast away and also on a treasure hunt, and that is cool, its a really good premise. its just that thats all there is to it.
the ending is basically lifted straight from Gurren Lagann. like directly lifted from it, there are some really similar shots to the end of the 2nd act of Gurren Lagann in the cut scenes. theres even a clash of drills at the end.
While that ending is really hype, its not even remotely earned. youre just stealing shit and killing salmonids, what is there to clash with? that stealing and pillaging is good actually? that the future of splatsville matters more than the past of the salmonids?
Its all incredibly hollow to me, and even a little vile. Here is Deep Cut, notorious shithead treasure hunters coming in, stealing shit, breaking things, taking artifacts with the intent to resell them. Theyre lowkey totally fucking evil to me, and they never get punished for it. I think that Deep Cut SHOULD go in and steal shut and break things, because it would be really cool characterization... if they actually got punished for it and were taught a lesson that being culture stealing bandits is actually a bad thing. It would be cool to see them get their asses handed to them, to see them look like massive fucking idiots because they caused a lot of damage with their actions. That would be FANTASTIC if it happened... but it doesnt... The games message is that its really cool to go in and steal culture and sell it off to the highest bidder. They joke about how theyre going to split the cut way more than they actually talk about how theyre doing this for splatsvilles sake. This story is just... bad. Its a really huge missed opportunity with a gross message at the end while also stealing Gurren Laganns ending nit because its thematic, but just because its really cool. this game is just really gross to me now and i honestly kinda despise Deep Cut if this is how theyre going to be written in the future.
