HADLEY: that's true to sigh. you're so pretty and smart. maybe i should stay in and just have some drinks? but then i'd miss you! decisions are really hard...

PIP: depends on where you are planning on going out to and who you are taking along with you!! also how poorly you are feeling because i don't want you taking ill before your rehearsals get underway

“There’s nothing like cracking open a cold one with the boys, am I right, my dude?” Tristan exclaimed with an overly positive, possibly faked grin on his face, swiftly uncapping a small bottle of vodka and taking a generous sip, not bothering to drown the taste out with a soft drink. That’s just how he rolled.

“Hey! That was only twice.” Hadley’s past the point of being prone to blushing for casual compliments, though that of course makes him no less flattered and no less appreciative, thanks very much. Appreciative enough to be holding up his candy-floss flavored ice cream to her, just expecting her to want a taste, as is the norm. “You’re beautiful, but no, listen, I was actually talking about musicals for a reason this time! Particularly a reason having to do with that audition I had.” It shouldn’t be a surprise at this point that Hadley takes up the project of joining in a local theater’s production of their Musical of the Summer every year, but he still makes it sound as if it’s the most exciting thing to ever happen to him. Usually, it’s one of the most exhausting. As tiresome as classes and all that can be, it’s juggling his summer courses, his job, and then a production on top of that which really wears him out. Plus, it’s hot. “Please, hold your applause — unless you really, really can’t help yourself — but I got the role!” Which calls for celebration, right? Even if he had been cast as something that he hadn’t wanted, he’d still celebrate, though honestly that’s never really happened to him. Haddy is always the lead.

Sidney sat at the very end of the pier. Their legs dangled over the edge, toes just barely breaking the surface of the water. It was cold, but they enjoyed the shock of it. They air was thick, salty–something about it reminded Sid of calm. They had their guitar in their hands, and they were carefully strumming out notes. The tune wasn’t defined; it was loose, easy, something random and relaxed. Sid hummed along as they played. They had work later that night, and had already taken Mac on their daily walk. It was that empty, hazy period mid-day that they always felt like they needed to fill, somehow. It was too early for work and too late to go back to sleep. So they usually ended up finding something to do. That day they’d peered out into the pale gray of the afternoon and decided it was a good day to play. Sid was lost in their music–eyes closed, shoulders slumped, fingers dancing across the strings. They were so deep in the song that they didn’t even notice the sound of footsteps approaching. They turned around, offering up a soft smile but continuing their strumming.

“Any requests?” they asked warmly, tilting their head and squinting into the sun, “It’s a great day for some music, I think.”

Pip lights up at the sight of a familiar face -- or, rather, the familiar back of a head. Having worked together for quite some time, she can all too easily pick Sid’s silhouette against the backdrop of the glistening waters. The fact they have a guitar in hand isn’t an unfamilar sight either and she gleefully skips her way down to the end of the Pier to join her friend. She hesitates to make her presence known, concocting a great plan to sneak up behind them, clasp her hands over their eyes, and make a huge scene of it all. (Pip, for one, loves a good scene.) However, her scheming is thwarted as they turn around to spot her anyways, asking her for requests before she can even shout surprise. Bummer.

A sunny day at the Brighton Pier during the summer is as crowded as it sounds. Hadley finds himself submerged comfortably in a large group of people hanging about outside of the arcade, though he suspects that a lot are just overflow from the line into the ice cream shop. He had the early shift at the diner this morning, and while there had been a fair few people that came in (there’s always a steady flow during tourist season), it had still been too slow to satiate his need for socialization. Plus there was the whole doing his job thing that got in the way, which yeah, can be a bit of a bummer when all he wants is to talk. He’s got sticky hands from the melting of his own ice cream over his fingers, but he ignores it, napkin already crumple up into a ball in his second hand. It’s pretty much a miracle that he finds a free place on a bench to plop himself down next to somebody, so he considers this his lucky day as he turns to address them with a large smile on his face. “Beautiful, isn’t it?” Tumbles somewhat awkwardly from his mouth, followed up close by, “you like plays, right? Like, musicals.”

piper renetti comes from a very affluent family who lived in london’s notting hill, a wealthy district on the west side of the city. she’s an only child and was properly spoilt materially? but not in the silver spoon i expect the world handed to me sort of way. her parents just genuinely... didn’t have the time to do much by way of raising so the housekeepers and such instilled p humble morals in the renetti child

it became clear from a young age that piper (she prefers pip, ok) was musically gifted. she has perfect pitch and a knack for picking up instruments that became discovered as she tried to self-teach herself on the grand piano in their front parlor at the tender age of three.

perhaps incorrectly, her parents presumed their bright, spirited young daughter might excel specifically in classical music. it might have matched with her talents and her initial interests but it did NOT mesh well with her personality.

pip is a high energy sprite of a thing and always has been. coming from wealth, she’s socially educated and tends to adapt herself to different situations. despite dressing in expensive clothes (though she tends towards odd fashion brands to fit her Look) and carrying herself with pristine posture, she’s actually very easy to get along with, low maintenance, you know???

she stumbled into dj-ing by accident. musically inclined, she liked to explore different genres of music to listen to and a boy at school had an obsession with techno. she took note of his neon headphones and the reverb of bass pouring out and took an interest. she boldly introduced herself, demanded they be friends, and has been hooked on the intoxicating beat ever since.

BASICALLY, pip moved to brighton when she was 11 along with her parents as her father’s job was relocated. she moved out of home at 18 to obtain a sense of independence from her parents smothering, limited vision of her as classical musician. she wanted to unleash her wild talents on the dj world and is actually even more gifted at it than at any other instrument

she’s studying music/music technology at a nearby university just so she can have her uni qualifications in case she’s not the Next Big Thing

she’s very much a people person and she’s very happy with where she’s at in life. despite being at a different place than she’s accustomed to, financially, she’s doing what she’s passionate about and feels most in her element when surrounded by music. her parents still give her support but it’s significantly less than if she’d followed their plans/ was still at home

pip identifies as poly and learned as much through the romantic example of her bff’s mothers ( that hadley ). she’s been in both a poly relationship as well as monogamous relationships, though, and found that she preferred the former after a p nasty breakup she’s also pan so gender generally ain’t important

she’s passionate, energetic, & would prefer to go through life with everyone loving her. she’s kind of needy for approval and affection (v tactile pls cuddle her) but tends to be slower with her romantic advances since a few recent losses have her a bit hesitant

basically once she’s let you in, her claws are gonna sink in so she doesn’t lose anyone else

she laughs in the face of the disappearances like ??? vampires? sign her tf up she wants her neck bit (nsfw?) but it’s more of a denial tool than it is genuine amusement. like if anyone she loves (Which is potentially a lot of u) disappears, she’s not going to deny the rumors but for now she’s blissfully ignoring them

incredibly ambitious, she wants to make it big on the edm scene and hopes to leave brighton behind for the bright lights of fame!
