Thinking about an omegaverse scenario where unruly alphas have to be either legally muzzled in public, or wear brightly colored, semi-permanent caps on their canines to minimize potential harm to nearby omegas. The caps (made out of a durable, silicone-like substance) are typically neon green, yellow, or orange to enhance visibility and are cemented onto the fangs to ensure long lasting bondage. Basically, an alpha with a criminal background might have to wear a muzzle as part of their parole, but if they exhibit good behavior, they can downgrade to just the caps. (The downside to the caps is that they make alphas talk with a temporary lisp until they get used to them lol.)
When omega!Robert starts working with the Z-Team, he's not at all surprised to see that pretty much everyone on his team is 1) an alpha, and 2) muzzled. The sole exception is Golem, who doesn't have fangs. Nor does he really have a secondary gender like a human, so he's just sort of chilling.
And Robert's team of ex-criminal alphas are really fucking annoying. They sniff out that he's an omega and try to intimidate him into submission (Coupรฉ, Malevola, Punch Up, Prism), try to bare their fangs behind their muzzles to "flirt" with/sexually harass him (Visi, Sonar), or do both (Flambae). Invisigal's favorite way to torment him is to sneak up behind him and press her cold metal muzzle against the back of his neck to watch him flinch.
But unlike every other dispatcher the team had in the past, Robert is not one to cower or surrender. Instead, he has an idea. He argues with Blazer that the more his team are treated like dangerous villains, the more they will behave as such. Instead, he wants to give them the opportunity to prove they can do and be better.
With some reluctance Blazer, (an alpha who trusts Robert's judgement but doesn't necessarily trust the Z-Team to behave themselves) approves the process to get the team out of their muzzles and fitted with custom canine caps.
Caps are still stigmatized and will still signify them as ex-villains out in public, but they're a lot less dehumanizing than being fucking muzzled. Bonus: each team member can pick out their color from the limited selection offered and can finally eat real food during their lunch breaks. Muzzled alphas have to subsist off of highly calorie-dense protein shakes and other beverages that can be drunk with a straw.
Malevola rocks her new neon yellow caps and says they go with her eyes. Prism, hating the idea of neon orange and green, also choses yellow to at least complete the primary color scheme she now has going on. It's not terrible, actually.
Sonar didn't have much of a color preference and chose yellow just because that's what Malevola picked. The yellow also contrasts nicely against Invisigal's bright pink jacket, which is why she picked it, too. Plus, she says it's the color that looks "the most fun in my mouth".
Punch Up's caps are green and since Coupรฉ had no preference, he chose the same for her as well. She made a fuss at first, being the only member of the team to prefer her muzzle to these obnoxiously colored caps, but at least she matches with Punch Up. With some time, she'll admit they're indeed more comfortable than a heavy, metal muzzle.
Flambae was the only Z-Teamer to pick orange, for obvious reasons. His are made of a harder substance than the others though, as his caps have to withstand frequent burning hot temps. As a result, Flambae has a lisp for a lot longer than anyone else bc his caps are firmer and a little bulkier. Their size and rigidity kind of defeats the purpose of the caps in the first place (negating potential damage from his bite), but they still blunt his fangs and are rounded at the tips to minimize harm.
(Poor guy, he's missing a tooth AND has to fight his new lisp ๐ญ)
Anyway, Robert expects his team to still give him trouble and headaches, and they very much do so, but they're also... thankful.
Their jeering dies down significantly, becoming more muted and almost playful after they get their caps. It also ironically helps that Robert will liberally make fun of their temporary lisps, which encourages his team to do their recommended vocal exercises to overcome them faster. Plus, getting their canine caps is something of a team bonding moment for them. They get less dirty looks on the streets, can eat on the job, and ofc Golem will take plenty of photos of them rocking their new smiles bc he's happy for his friends.
Robert, the only omega affiliated with the Z-Team, can feel their morale skyrocket almost overnight. He's happy for them and glad that the caps are working as intended. He just didn't expect how often he would be nuzzled, scented, and even nipped at by his gaggle of idiots.
He can feel the soft give and blunted ends of his alphas' caps as they teasingly give him a little nibble on the shoulder. He stiffened the first few times it happened until he remembered they are literally incapable of giving him a mating bite. And to them, this is how an alpha cements bonds with an omega, through shows of affection and play biting. They scent him as well. Very often. Robert's throat and the back of his neck start chafing from how often he's caressed and nuzzled, no more muzzles to keep him safe.
The one alpha that seems hellbent on scenting him more than anyone else, however, is also the only one with orange caps. And his efforts nearly double after he learns that Robert is Mecha Man.
Robert really thought Flambae would hate him for their troubled past. He sincerely regrets what he did that night; as Mecha Man, he prided himself on avoiding excessive force whenever possible. But severing Flambae's fingers was the only thing he could have done to regain the upper hand that night.
And now Flambae... well. Without Mecha Man and without Robert, he'd either still be a low level villain doing nothing with his life or he'd still be in jail. He'd still be muzzled. Having his freedom from both a heavily armored jail cell and his unsightly, humiliating muzzle are both huge for him, but he'd never be able to gain those things on his own.
So, whether Flambae consciously recognizes it or not, he's hellbent on scrubbing the scent of any other alpha from his omega. Because that's what Robert is. His.
