Pacific Daydream (alongside quite a lot of other weezer albums) is a victim of what I like to call the "Nuts and Bolts effect", where a perfectly passable piece of content is considered Shit because it's not what people wanted from the source material. Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts is a great game, but it's not a great Banjo-Kazooie game, so it bombed. Pacific Daydream is a perfectly decent pop album, with plenty of catchy tracks, but because it's not like Weezer's first two albums it's automatically shit. I'll keep playing Beach Boys down my headphones all I want, and there's nothing you can do to stop me.
