Hate towards mobian x human is rooted in racism.
He already hear alot about how much hate exist towards Princess Elise The Third because of her feelings and relationship with Sonic The Hedgehog, and how a big part of this comes form misogyny, however, i Think theres a second element on this.
One of the main critics towards Sonelise, or any mobian x human comes from the argument that this is zoophilia, because Sonic well..is a blue Hedgehog!, but the thing Is, this is not that simple, not even *In* universe. Sonic and the other mobians are considered people, they legaly have rights of ownership(Sonic's airplane, Amy's and Rouge's apartament, ect), they are addressed by human as any other civilian, they can get jailed(Sonic in Sonic Adventure 2), they can start business(The Chaotix) and they are aware of this things themself, they even have their own cultures that mimic human's(The Echidna clan), they can live among human like any other human, work for and with humans and get pay.
They pass the Harkness test, a popular method of critic to determined if persuing a non-human person is ethical.
The only thing *actually* separating mobians from humans is...their visuals. They are anthropomorfic animals, which may or may not looks similar to the ordinary animals.
The visual aspect is what is use to berate any type of shipping between the two groups. Swapping the mobian for any non white human ethnic might be helpful if you are not getting what i'm trying to explain.
For many years, black, indigenous and asian people have suffer from discrimination because of their skin tone, culture and origins, tought racism is still a pretty active phenomenon all around the world, this often also takes the form of internal racism and racism between poc people. One of the ways this ethnics were discriminated was by segregation: encapsulating the pocs in one place, far from the white and enforcing laws and social rules that denied equal rights of living, of owning, of profit, ect like the whites, Even tought they we're people too.
Segregation Is something that does happen currently in the Sonic's timeline, Ian Flynn, with a very weird idea of what and utopia Is, has declared that mobians are segregated to islands, that why we often see only the Main cast of mobians interact with humans. Tought it Is slowly changing(henced the mobian guard from Soleanna freatured in the IDW Comics) it doesnt change the fact that an offical Sonic writer has use a racial discrimination term to describe mobians' social situation.
