2016 is officially upon us, and I thought today would be the best day to start the undeniable quest of new years resolution advice when it comes to an extreme weight loss goal.

Both photos are of me. Yes, they are real. Yes, it’s only been three years. No, I did not get any sort of surgery. Yes, I have a massive amount of excess skin. No, it was not easy. Yes, I have battled two way disorders, and am still in recovery for one. Yes, I have developed Body Dysmorphic Disorder.

Losing the amount of weight I had was not a simple snap of my fingers. I went straight into losing weight cold turkey. I used the @medifast program for my first 110 pounds (which I lost extremely fast in 1.5 years).

I moved away from Medifast after my mental breakdown, after my best friend passed away in my arms, after I developed a very dangerous eating disorder. You can say I had caused more harm to my body the skinner I got - and boy did I get scary skinny.

It’s taken me a long time to learn to love my body. I’m still in that phase of accepting/loving it, and some days it really is a struggle. Some days I can look at myself in a mirror. I can’t look down at my saggy excess skin. Some days I just don’t want to be alive, and some of that feeling is caused by unjust magazine photos of girls my age looking like a real queen.

I’m hear to tell you that the biggest thing you can do for yourself before starting your weight loss journey is to accept and love yourself the way you are RIGHT now. Don’t do what I did. Don’t lose all of this weight thinking you’ll love yourself when you hit your goal weight on the scale - it doesn’t happen. All you’ll want to do is get smaller and smaller and then nothing, no number, is ever good enough.
