Pieta let out a laugh at the lawyerâs words, shaking her head playfully. Despite Dianaâs words, she had put down the files sheâd been reading over. A grin spread across her lips as she shrugged her shoulders. âMaybe. But youâre still coming to lunch, soâŚguess you donât say no to me then,â Pieta laughed, leaning back against the door sheâd closed.Â
âYes maâam,â Pieta replied mock serious. She and Diana had only been friends for a few months and despite the other womanâs rather reserved demeanour, Pieta liked the woman. She knew though, by now, not to push her new friend too much. She laughed outright then, at her words. âHey, I do work occasionally. Plus, my father is in town⌠So,â Pieta exclaimed, rolling her eyes a little.Â
âCome onâŚIâm starving. All that work gave me an appetite,â Pieta said with a laugh, winking playfully.
âBecause saying no means nothing to you Iâve learnt. I pick my battles.â Diana raised a brow, quite clearly impressed as she grabbed her blazer to put back on. âAh, I knew there was a reason for it. You arenât one to do something you donât like for no reason.â Slipping her phone in her pocket, she made her way to the door. Her eyes fell back on her work for a brief moment. It felt wrong, leaving when she still had things to do.Â
âAlright, alright, letâs go.â Opening the door, she stepped out before locking it behind herself. âIf anyone calls or comes by, let them know Iâll be back in an hour at the most.â Tony nodded quickly, shooting his boss a bright smile that overtime, she had come to love. Her attention turned back to the woman next to her. âSo, where are you thinking?â
Pieta simply let out a laugh at Dianaâs words because she wasnât necessarily wrong. Pieta had never been good at taking no for an answer; it was how sheâd managed to get her own way for most of her life. It wasnât a habit that sheâd be breaking out of any time soon. She winked playfully then, as they made their way out. âExactly. I gotta say, I do think I pull it off rather well though,â Pieta mused.
She waited then as Diana spoke to her assistant, sending Tony a playful wink as they passed. She slipped a hand around Dianaâs elbow, leading her out of the office. âWell, thereâs a nice little Moroccan place I wanted to try. But...if you insist on only being an hour...we can do somewhere quicker?â Pieta suggested, knowing her plan for the afternoon probably wouldnât come to fruition. Diana was too much of a workaholic.
âI think thereâs one of those healthy organic food places not far. We could always give it a try...â

Pieta had, surprisingly, been working all morning. Doing actual, Godâs honest, what she was paid for, work. And now, she needed a break. Which was why she was making her way towards the DAâs office, intent on stealing her friend away for an hour at least, the whole afternoon if the fates were willing.Â
Grinning, she made her way through the building and towards Dianaâs office. She chuckled a little as her secretary looked at her in surprise; the smart pencil skirt and blazer were probably the most sensible anyone had ever seen her in. She waited for a moment, knowing better than to just barge into Dianaâs office, for the secretary to nod it was okay.Â
âGuess who?â Pieta exclaimed as she pushed the door open. A rhetorical question but Pieta didnât care. She grinned widely at her friend, letting her eyes travel over her intently as if she hadnât seen the other woman in years. âSo, Iâve come to take you for lunch. And you canât say no, bebĂŠ.â

Diana often took to pacing when decisions over whether to let a case go to trial or drop the cases, wasnât a clear cut one. Sheâd pace and read it out loud, usually that helped. At least a little. âMr Richardson claimed not guilty, however-.â Her reading got no further due to the loud interruption of the one and only Pietra Mercado. Most people wouldnât even dare to do that, in fear of Dianaâs wrath. However, the other woman seemed to not think of such things. Even after only a few months of friendship. A friendship that wouldnât exist if Pietra didnât work so hard for it.
âIâm actually quite good at saying no, in case youâve forgotten.â Even as she spoke, she was dumping her files on the table. While she was incredibly wonderful at saying no, Pietra was horrendous at taking such an answer. âHalf an hour, thatâs all Iâm giving you. Some of us actually work.â Her eyes ran over the womanâs professional wear, only now noticing it. âHowever, it seems like you might have done so. Iâm impressed.â

It doesnât take long but itâs not instantly either. Sheâs very open and free spirited and very secure in herself and her life.Â

It truly depends on the other person. If she doesnât think theyâd react well, or that theyâre not in the same place with feelings, she wonât. Sheâll wait for them. However, sometimes sheâs impulsive and just...blurts things out without thinking.Â

The walk was a necessary part of her cool down. Sheâd just been at the gym, still dressed in her work out clothes when a dog and child came barrelling towards her. It was only when she was almost run over that realised the father of both had been chasing after them.Â
Pieta couldnât help but chuckle at the words. Her own daughter had a tendency to just run off, not in anger but in excitement. She knew how worrying and tiring it could be. âItâs okay,â Pieta replied, leaning down to pet the dogâs head, grinning down at the animal. âSeems like the pair of them keep you on your toes,â Pieta said with a laugh, looking between the man, the dog and the child.Â
When the male finally caught up to the two, he was glad it wasnât some creepy person the pair had run-up to. It was New York City after all and Caleb ran into a lot of those. He finally got the dog to sit and the child was just focused on the dog as she always was. He let out a small chuckle and looked up at the woman that was in front of the three. âOh, always. If one isnât doing something they arenât supposed to, the other one is.â He laughed once again and stuck his other hand in his pocket. âThe dog is usually chill in public, though. The other, not so much. So many things to see and touch, you know?â
Pieta simply grinned at the man and his words. She didnât have a dog but she did have a young daughter. She chuckled, nodding her head along with him. âOh, I know,â Pieta replied, smiling wider as she glanced down at the child and the dog. âI have a six year old and sheâs constantly just running off on her own. She has no fear, which is a little frightening for me,â Pieta admitted, unsure why she was sharing so much with the unknown man. âIâm Pieta, by the way,â she introduced herself casually.Â
Rosalie frequented several bars in Manhattan, especially after long days at work. Currently, she sat at the bar countertop with an almost empty glass of whiskey in front of her. Her day had been stressful, so she needed a drink or two to unwind a bit. As she looked up, she met the gaze of someone seated not too far from her. âAre you going to keep staring, or are you going to come over here and buy me a drink?â The brunette asked, quirking a brow at the person. âIâd prefer the last option because the staring is creeping me outâ she said, letting out a laugh.Â
Pieta was a regular at the bar, sweeping in with a grin and a wink towards the bartender. She ordered her usual, slipping into a seat, crossing her legs as she glanced around the bar. Her eyes caught sight of a brunette a few seats away and her brows furrowed as she stared a little. The woman looked awfully familiar.Â
A laugh escaped her then, when the other woman turned towards her to speak. Pieta grinned into her drink, shaking her head as she made her way over to the other brunette. âWhatâre you drinking then?â Pieta asked confidently, smirking widely. âAnd Iâm sorry for staring,â Pieta continued, leaning in a little. âYou looked familiar, I thought you were someone else,â she admitted with a shrug of a shoulder.Â
She extended a hand to shake. âPieta. You are?â
the male had been sitting at a table at some place in the city. his laptop open and a bunch of papers under the device so they wouldnât fly away. he had spent most of his day sending out emails. having a conversation with his fatherâs lawyer about some legal things. his golden retriever was laying down next to him, calm and collected as he worked. a few more minutes passed by and the dog hurried up and ran toward something as did his child that was sitting perfectly still in the seat next to him. a small cuss left his lips as he quickly stood up to try to gather the leash before he was almost running into someone and he stopped as he finally caught the leash and looked up. âsorry, he really likes people.â he let out and huffed. âand she always follows close behind."Â @cityofdreamsstarters

Pieta wasnât even sure why she was here, attending a wedding of people she couldnât quite stand. But the bride was a friend of her sisters and well, it seemed impolite to decline. At least it was an open bar, not that sheâd ever been wanting for money, but alcohol certainly soothed the awkward edges of her attendance.
She was sat enjoying her drink and her food when a person sat down beside, catching her attention. His words had her snorting a little, turning her head to glance over at the man. âHow about the groomâs boyfriend, if weâre going to be scandalous?â She replied with a teasing lilt to her voice, settling back in her chair. She shook her head. âA reality camera crew is all we need at a wedding like this,â she scoffed, brows furrowing, though she was definitely amused.
âI take it you donât know the couple very well?â Pieta ventured, sipping her drink as she regarded the man. She was very sure sheâd never met him before and wondered how he knew the now married couple they were both there âcelebratingâ.
âNah, trust me. If I actually knew any of these crazy people, I wouldâve talked them out of it a long time ago.â He unwrapped one of the linens that contained (a few too many pieces of) silverware, and then made it a point to skewer some of the entree on his fork. âIâm here⌠for the food.â Carver grinned at the stranger, before he looked away to nod to the newlyweds currently making their rounds. âOne of their friends invited me. I donât remember if sheâs friends with the bride or the groom.â Okay, now he was being purposely flippant towards them.
âWhat about you? I noticed a âweâ in your statement,â the director mentioned, curious to meet anyone who had a connection to either family. âDid you mean that as in you know the happy couple personally, or as in: âthe last thing we, anyone with big money constantly avoiding the paparazzi, need is even more cameras in our facesâ? Iâm in agreement either way.âÂ
An eyebrow rose at the manâs words, amusement filling her. She couldnât help but laugh. âI donât think you can talk crazy out of crazy, to be honest,â Pieta said with a laugh, relaxing back in her seat a little. She grinned a little, head tilted as she watched him speak. âWell, they paid a ridiculous amount, it should be fantastic food,â she told him, eating a little bit from her own plate as if to prove it. His next words had her nodding. âAh... So basically, youâre just a plus one tonight? You donât really know them at all.â
His next words had her laughing, though a slight grimace found her features. Her head wiggled a little, as she reached for her drink, taking a long sip and placing it back down again. âWould it sound too pretentious if I said...a little bit of both?â She asked, laughing lightly. She pointed then, towards her sister. âSee the maid of honor? My little sister. And, though we arenât exactly paparazzi bound, we do have...what did you call it?â Pieta mused, glancing over at him with a raised eyebrow and amusement on her features. âBig money.â
âWhat about you? Big money or paparazzi fodder?âÂ
School pick ups were Pietaâs favorite part of the day. She would never admit to anyone, if asked. But after spending a whole day away from her daughter, finally getting to see her face after hours apart made her happier then sheâd ever thought. Not to mention Marielle was learning so much and she was so excited about it all; it was almost infectious how upbeat and talkative her daughter could get. So, she always insisted on picking her baby girl up from school.Â
Today was like any other. Pieta was standing just outside the school gates, other parents and nannyâs and au pairs waiting around her. Her eyes scanning the courtyard when she finally spotted her girl running towards her; a wide grin spreading across her face. Her brows furrowed only the slightest when she noticed Marielle dragging another little girl along with her.Â
âMama! Can me and Mia play in the park this afternoon? Pleasepleaseplease!â Her daughter exclaimed excitedly, smile wide as she gestured to her new friend.Â
âWhoa. Calm down, bambina,â Pieta soothed her, squatting down so she was eye level with the two girls. She smiled at Marielleâs friend, letting a hand smooth over one of Marielleâs barely contained dark braids. âI think we better ask Miaâs mom,â Pieta replied, not prepared for the two girls to jet off once again.Â
She stood quickly, following them towards who she assumed to be the other little girlâs parent. She was surprised to see them, still holding hands, talking to a man that seemed to be the other girlâs father? Pieta knew she shouldnât be surprised but, she rarely ever saw fatherâs around for pick up. Hell, half the time motherâs werenât even there.Â
âHi,â Pieta introduced herself, stepping closer then. âIâm Marielleâs mom,â she continued, gesturing towards her bouncy little girl. She grinned, chuckling a little. âSeems these two want to keep playing...â she continued, shrugging a little. This was the first impromptu playdate Marielle had wanted since starting school. Pieta hadnât had to approach any other parents yet, she wasnât sure of the protocol.Â

A laugh left her as she nodded at his words. âI definitely would be. Itâs lucky Iâm no fool then,â Pieta replied with a grin. An eyebrow rose then, as she grinned back at him. âHuh. I wouldnât have picked you for a G&T drinker,â Pieta mused, a shoulder shrugging lightly. She chuckled. âBourbon and coke,â she told him with a grin. âOh, Iâm Pieta. Nice to meet you Ramsey,â Pieta grinned, extending her hand for him to shake.Â

âShite,â Ramsey muttered under his breath, inspecting the now-empty glass before placing it back on the counter. âThat stuff goes down far too smoothly. What do you say â another round, on me?â
@jetsetstarters
A grin spread across Pietaâs lips as she heard the manâs offer. She shrugged lightly, eyes meeting his. âWell, I never can turn down a round that Iâm not paying for,â Pieta said with a laugh, taking a last sip of her own drink as she leant against the bar. âWhatâre you drinking anyway?â
her golden hair billowed in the crisp autumn winds as she walked down the pavement. meetings are important, especially to a modelling mogul like ivy rothschild. however, that morning called for some serious doses of caffeine. never one to be a morning person, ivy had made a hastily quick journey to the nearest coffee house for her morning fix. however, upon taking the takeaway cup, she left a crimson mark as she took a sip, her red soled heels clicking ferociously as she made her way back to the office. however, it was the haste of her journey that caused her to stumble slightly, her hand clutching onto someone to stop her from falling. straightening herself up and hoping no one saw, she turned to the person, âthank god i didnât spill my coffee or fall, or iâd be in tears,â ivy said, a laugh bubbling from her scarlet lips. @jetsetstarters
Pieta was on her way to âworkâ, not that she ever did much. Working for her family was not something sheâd ever really wanted to do, her older brother was the one being groomed to take over from the time they were young. She knew she should probably be rushing but her position really was nothing more than a title; still, her father and elder brother could be so obstinate about it all.Â
She was lost in her own world, walking between her daughters school and her office when she felt a hand grip onto her forearm. Her brows furrowed and she jerked away automatically. Until of course she registered it was a woman that had seemingly just stumbled. Looking her over, Pieta couldnât help but wonder if the blonde was drunk or hungover.Â
A little laugh escaped her, shaking her head at the womanâs words. âYeah, thank God. Are you okay?â She asked, letting her eyes drift over the other woman curiously. âWouldnât want you crying and all. What did you even trip over?â She asked curiously.Â
