⟢ summary: y/n, a first year student at hybe university, has been in love with choi yeonjun since high school, and even went to lengths in high school by dating choi soobin in hopes to get closer with yeonjun, but ultimately, both her relationship with soobin and her mission to get close with yeonjun, failed. learning yeonjun started working at a café y/n becomes a frequent customer and unexpectedly develops feelings for a certain someone at the café.
chapter 06: strawberry-flavored monster ᯓ𑣲 written! (wc: aprox. 850)
rummaging through her closet, y/n asked chaewon, who was currently lying on y/n's mountain of clothes on her bed, "quick, wonnie, what should i wear!? what are you wearing??"
chaewon got up and started to help y/n look through her closet, "i was just going to wear what i'm wearing right now since i have classes from ten to six today," she said with a big sigh. y/n peeked out of her closet and saw chaewon was simply in a tank top and a pair of grey sweatpants topped with a grey-and-black flannel.
"i would love to just put on some sweats and call it a day, but i'll be seeing yeonjun at the café!! plus, i absolutely CANNOT let the opp see me looking like a bum," y/n said as she pulled out a pair of washed-out flared jeans.
outside their room, the sound of their apartment door slamming against the frame sounded through the flat. yunjin's already off to class. chaewon glanced at her phone, 7:36am.
"how about this y/nnie, i'll help you choose some options for tops, and you can do your hair and makeup in the meanwhile!" chaewon said as she pushed y/n to the vanity.
"ugh i love you so much, wonnie. i don't know what i'd do without you," y/n said to her while hurriedly priming her face.
chaewon, coming to y/n with the tops she picked out, "you better make me your maid-of-honor at you and yeonjun's wedding! now choose something!! this will impact your future with him," she teased.
the sound of zhang hao's voice outside their door pierced their sweet moment, "HURRY UP GUYS!! YUQI AND I ARE ALREADY READY AND ARE WAITING FOR YOU TWO!!" immediately after, chaewon tidied her bag and y/n finished getting ready.
meanwhile, at page.coffee, soobin was assigning tasks to each person, "okay so we will be cutting the ribbon right at 8:15, and before that, we will need to pass out samples to the customers waiting. we need the ribbon to be somewhat leveled, so kai and yeonjun will be on ribbon duty. taehyun, you will be making the samples, and beomgyu will pass them out."
taehyun looked through the café window, and was met with the sight of a long line of excited customers that wraps around the café, "is it normal to have this many people lined up at 7:50 in the morning?"
"i mean, the coffee shops hybe had were kind of..." soobin started while gesturing towards the trash can.
"hyung, i don't think we have enough sample cups to pass out samples to everyone in line," beomgyu said as he watched taehyun, who was burning through the cup supply pouring samples.
soobin, blindsided, came up with a temporary solution, "umm... how about we ask the 7-Eleven across the street to lend us some of their small slushie cups?? beomgyu you can try that, do aegyo in return of cups, like 'pwease gimme cups juseyo~'" soobin mockingly said while putting his fists against his cheeks.
beomgyu gagged. "i am NOT doing aegyo for cups, let alone slushie cups. i'll just ask them," he said as he exited the café.
as the four roommates exited zhang hao's car, zhang hao went to queue for page.coffee as the girls headed to the 7-Eleven to grab some snacks and energy drinks for their classes.
y/n was just about to pull the door open until another hand beat her to the door, making their hands meet. before y/n could look up to see who the person was, the person's hand let go instinctively and they shyly apologized before rushing inside.
the girls, not thinking much of this encounter, headed straight for the drink fridges and snack aisles before meeting up near the cash register to checkout.
y/n, who was absent-mindedly scrolling on twitter, suddenly looked up from her phone when she heard the man in front of her begging for a box of slushie cups.
the young man in front of her with big, warm eyes desperately pleaded to the employee, "hyung, you can spare a couple cups right? can't you see how many people are lined up? it'll be super bad for business if we can't pass out samples to every customer! they lined up for who-knows how long already, and this is the least we can do for them. plus, you'll basically be getting a free-sponsorship!"
"alright, fine! but can't you at least buy something first?" the employee finally gave in while setting their own terms.
the man suddenly turned back, and took the can of strawberry-flavored monster from y/n's hands and turned to the employee, "i'll buy this for her! how's that?"
the cashier sighed and nodded while ringing up the can of monster, "that'll be 2,200 won."
the young man hurriedly took out his card to pay, then turned back to y/n and handed her the monster can, "thanks so much!" he said to her, rushing out the door with his box of slushie cups before she could either thank him or question why he was thanking her.
"so he works at page.coffee," y/n thought.
