One of those statements describes a sexual preference.  One of those statements defines women. 

And if this statement really doesn’t imply anything about trans women yay or nay, what is it doing here?  “Why can’t gay couples get married?”  “Well, marriage is about building a family and having children.”  The natural follow-up is, “…And?” 

This was part of the OP’s point: when you say, “I loves me some vaginas,” you’re not saying, “I loves me some women.”  Technically speaking, you’re not saying you’re not bisexual.  This does not mean that everyone should identify as bisexual - or indeed that lesbians should stop praising vaginas.  It does mean that we need to stop equating gender and genitals.  It is just as transphobic to switch “trans women” out for “people with penises,” if you keep talking as though these are equivalent. 

It’s like…the Roberts court came up with “pregnant persons,” to refer to the group of people - overwhelmingly not men - screwed by TRAP laws.  This is sexist.  TRAP laws are not gender-neutral, even if they don’t explicitly say that they’re trying to harm women.  But it would also be sexist to start referring to women as, “pregnant persons.”  Anti-choice laws efficiently target women by controlling pregnancy; that does not imply that all women get pregnant. 

Most women fuck men and give birth at least once, but it is still homophobic and sexist to generalize about women as straight mothers.  This is the same thing.  Most women are not trans; most women have vaginas; that does not mean that women (or lesbians) are cis and have vaginas. 

That’s why grrrlfever didn’t say in as many words she wasn’t into any trans women.  It wasn’t because she was saying that some trans women are acceptable partners.  It was because she and a whole lot of other people went straight from trans women to peen everywhere peen peen peen.  It’s not transphobic for trans commenters to ignore an exception nobody bothered to make.   

It is transphobic to forget that some trans women in fact have vaginas.  But this is also a generalization: trans women have penises by definition.  “People with penises” makes trans women into a monolith.  It’s like, “tribe that bleeds.”  If I am part of the “tribe that bleeds,” then I bleed even if I don’t.  My individual body has ceased to exist.  It can be inferred.  My status as a woman says whether or not I menstruate; it is more important than whether or not I actually do.  Trans women don’t collectively own and distribute penises; they’re not the People of the Penis.  Trans status is not a phallus. 

And, like, this is already really long, but there are some obvious tacit assumptions here about what a trans woman would want to do in bed, with or independent of her genitals. 

Again, if “vaginas are my favorite thing about going down on a lady” is not a comment on trans women’s bodies, what is it doing in this conversation?  She is obviously making the argument that trans women = penises, and that sex with trans women =! sex involving vaginas.  It’s a non sequitur otherwise.  This cis cis-lady-loving-lady heard, “cis lesbians should stop excluding trans lesbians from their communities,” and immediately went there.  That’s transphobic. 

I really think we may be looking at different contexts because what I am seeing is more or less grrrlfever "skipping along minding her own business" responding to a rather innocuous anon message.

saying "they don't like one of the speakers" is dismissive. to me it's not even that janice raymond is transphobic. it's that she is the founding mother of the reactionary anti-trans movement. she wrote arguably the most transphobic book of all time, in which she literally compared trans women's bodies to rape. despite any of her good politics, i'll dance on her grave.
