Confusing “Befriending” with “Evangelizing”,  The difference should be obvious to even the densest Right Winger,  If he was JUST Befriending then he would not be getting them out of the hate groups because he would not care.  Mr. Davis is a missionary out to end hate ONE person at a time, the type of person implied in OP would not care if the person worked the oven at Auschwitz or the Sundae Social for the Quakers.

For the love of all that is holy stop bringing up Daryl Davis! You are not him. You dont like risks or being uncomfortable so you’ll fall behind whatever view favors a status quo that wont target you. It’s more likely you will become accustomed to their hate speech and start leaning in their direction than you will ever turn them away from a lifetime of white supremacist views. The fact that you immediately come here, strawman, and ask what harm there can be in befriending nazis shows that you already humanize them over us. Hundreds of years of US history shows why valuing relationships with white supremacists winds up making regular people become passive and sometimes intentional enablers.
