dr bashir, i presume?
Spock is a character who lives in my mind to such a degree that I have headcanons I will fully forget if I've posted about before or are canon or widely accepted fanon or not because to me it's just a given. It is known. <- made it up
Anyway one ☝️ of which is that Spock's a little extra telepathic (melding with anything, melding through walls, mind controlling someone from across the room in that one episode everyone ignores because it was bad) Specifically because of his human ancestry making him lack some sort of inhibitor gene Vulcans usually have. Like ligers for psychics
I came to this conclusion like years ago because of the number of "what the fuck? Spock can do that?" Moments that happen in tos when the plot demands it & because it frequently goes against more established Rules for how Vulcans work it has to just be a Spock thing. From there the answer to "why is Spock built different" is kind of obvious. "Why does being half human make you more telepathic" is where the real specbio fun starts
Also! Implies the mechanism for Vulcan telepathy is different from Betazoid telepathy, as Deanna has weaker telepathy than average, also because of having a human parent. OR it depends on which parent is human. But I think the former makes more sense than having the genes divided up by chromosomes in the same way when they may or may not even Have the same chromosomes
Some of these Soviet illustrations were weird…

Personally love the Idea that most of star trek is reconstructed from personal logs. Because it plugs all the plot holes and explains a bunch of stuff like "why does the ferengi characterisation vary so wildly?" Humans are bigots
"why do the trills change appearance between tng and ds9?" Mistake in the logs
"why arent garak and Bashir fucking?" They are, garak keeps deleting if from the logs
“I’m alone! All alone.. alone!”
DS9 Textposts pt 121-???
star trek would be the ideal fictional universe to get trapped in because you'd explain your situation and they'd be like yeah makes sense. no further questions. fortunately we can use the mysterious warp signature emitting from this system's icy moon to counterface with the solar radiation and slingshot you back home
was going to title this “alien women” but then I remembered Leela and Uhura aren’t aliens so um. Space women! and dog!

my favorite thing about garak is that he sucks and his life is so miserable and i mean this in the purest form of character writing appreciation and not in like a blorbo way at all. he lived a pathetic and miserable life on cardassia and continues to live a pathetic and miserable life on ds9 as retribution and i think thats awesome. i like that hes the guy we kick when he's already down like over and over again with only minimal reprieve
like i really mean this in a pure way this makes me enjoy garak as a character. he lived a pathetic self-serving morally corrupt life before we as an audience knew him and all for absolutely nothing. doubly so if you run with the idea his job in the obsidian order wasn't even particularly high-profile as he (sometimes) makes it out to be. and now he's a washed up exile on ds9 where nearly every moment of his life is torture. even when he gets to use the espionage skills it's just to be another lackey for people he hates more than his previous employers. THIS IS GOOD STUFF TO ME
that’s an odd looking tailor
