What's the date today? Oh, right!
Today is the birthday of the wonderful game Undertale!!
My story of getting to know Undertale began ten years ago. At the time, I was a little eleven-year-old girl who had just moved to a new city and started at a new school. Back then, I was very afraid to download anything onto my old laptop because I was sure it wouldn't be able to handle it, and Undertale was the first game that my laptop could handle. It all started with the game itself, not with watching walkthroughs, art, or animations. I downloaded the game myself, and for me, βonce upon a time, two races ruled the earth: HUMANS and MONSTERSβ began. Did I know then that this would be the beginning of a long love affair?
It's amazing, ten years have passed! A lot has happened over the years. I was disappointed in the fandom, angry, thought I was cooling off, but I came back every time, because Undertale became more than just a fandom: it became home. The kind of home that is nice to come back to, walk into, look around, and realize how good it is to have a place to go.
Undertale is the reason I create now. Thanks to Undertale, I met wonderful people, many of whom I can call my closest friends, my family. Undertale gave me meaning, a reason, and a purpose. Undertale... I believe it shaped me as a person.
βYou won't succeed,β my anxiety tells me.
βStay determined,β Undertale tells me. I believe Undertale.
I decided to draw what was real for me in this fandom. The Smile meme, this one, was one of the first memes I saw about Undertale, Handplates is one of my favorite comics, and I watched the walkthrough (later) on DeKart channel. I rewatched it, remembered everything, haha. And then it started: fanfics, fan games, fan art. I was inspired, and with that, I decided it was time. Time to join. And here I am.
Thank you for being here. Thank you for being with me. And thank you, Undertale, for giving me my βdetermination.β I will remain determined, no matter what.
