I have been teaching for 5 years. I have had thank you cards with long and short messages all of which I have kept and appreciated but today I actually received one that made me cry. I would post the card but I feel it is more appropriate to just summarise. They described hating physics last year, crying after lessons and feeling like they could never do it, but this year physics has become their favourite science, they cried writing the card because they didn’t want to leave the class behind as they move on. This is the impact I have always dreamt of, and it’s not because they just like me, it’s the fact that in my lesson I have shifted their perspective of physics. It’s hard to explain without knowing the students but this was powerful. Anyway I don’t think I’ll ever feel this successful ever again
