Mission: Romance Her! (Part 2/2)
Yandere Book Character X Isekaiâd Reader
Trigger Warning: Implicit mention of Su*cide(very insignificant), Body Horror(Kinda?), Dubious Consent
A year had passed in the book world, and oh boy it had been a charged year. First, you had attended Tina and Peterâs marriage ceremony, which was extremely grandiose. It was an island wedding on a private island somewhere in the Mediterranean, I mean these are ultra rich people, should it be that surprising? It was honestly pretty romantic and everything. You obviously attended with your girlfriend Scarlet. She had been working pretty hard and had successfully obtained the approval of all the investors of the Bach familyâs chain corporation, Bach Inc. I mean their money has to be coming from somewhere, right? In the OG story, it was Peter who did that, but after your arrival and the changes you triggered in the storyline, who knows how many butterfly effects youâve triggered in this fictional romance universe? You were seated together and you could see just how excited she seemed looking at the weeding. It was reassuring, really. You were sure that Scarlet does in fact want to get married. If there was one especially memorable aspect it was the cake, yummy! The double layered red velvet cake that spanned like a 3 story building was scrumptious to say the least. You had even jokingly told the couple you were gonna copy that cake 1:1 for your future marriage ceremony.
Then, there was Bob, rushing you to propose because why wait? After all youâd return back to your world once the marriage ceremony was over and everything would be great. Well truthfully, it was a mix of two things. You were having cold feet at the thought of getting married because you had never gotten married before, and who cares if itâs not even gonna count because youâll be out of here as soon as itâs done, itâs still gonna be your first time getting married! And secondly you were starting to worry how you would make it up to your family and even if theyâd be willing to take you back, after all youâd hurt them quite a lot in your lifetime. But luckily for you, or maybe unluckily, Scarlet ended up taking that initiative. Honestly you didnât even know how she had time to plan that whole engagement surprise party and proposal. After all she was swamped by work now that she had successfully become the new chairwoman of Bach Inc. That day, when she got down on one knee and proposed, you obviously smiled all happy and accepted you had no reason not to, but deep inside you only felt dread, like this nagging feeling that wouldnât leave no matter what. Maybe it was just how devoted she was, maybe the smile she held felt off, maybe it was just the lighting in the suite. You couldnât quite put your finger on it. That night when you came home, you immediately opened up Bob, and asked if he had figured out what Scarlet having an 100% favorability towards you even truly meant. After all you were feeling off about her, you had been feeling a little off from the day she asked you to be her girlfriend, but you had shrugged it off as her just being excited and you being scared of committing to a relationship, even if it was âfakeâ to you, after your cheating ex. Now though, you werenât so sure anymore.
Host, after extensive research, I didnât find much useful information upon the database, which is rare, because my database is pretty diverse. But from what I could find, I have to say host, you really need to be careful. 100% in favorability is a dangerous line to tread, at least from what little information I could find about it in my database. I wonât get into the details, itâs quite⌠gruesome. Itâll be better to not burden you with this unnecessary knowledge.
Well, wasnât that just SOOO reassuring, thank you Bob. Goodness, what did he even mean by be careful, shouldnât someone who loves you a lot be very safe, why would you need to be careful and what does gruesome details even mean! You really had to calm yourself down after that and well it was pretty easy. Now you were engaged, so you could bury yourself into wedding planning and making sure everything was perfect. Scarlet and you had agreed on a date and since Jill didnât work in this world and you never bothered to find a job as Jill, you just stayed home and got to diligently planning your wedding. Sure youâd still act all normal and as if nothing was wrong in front of Scarlet, but deep down you were ready to get this over with and fast. You simply decided the faster you got married and returned to your real world, the less youâd need to worry about whatever ominous stuff Bob hinted at. It was crazy to think you initially felt touched when Scarlet asked you out and now you were just excited to dip. You were sure you had probably liked her at some point in time, like for real, but not anymore. You were sure of that much.
So, your grand wedding ceremony was in a week. To say you had been planning for it the last 6 months would be an understatement. You had merged yourself to wedding planning and spent way too much time on unnecessary details like if the flowers should be light pink or magenta or maybe neon pink, or if the fabric should be white silk, white cotton cloth or white fishnets. You were beyond excited, if you used to be internally stressed and bothered, you were just finally ready to get this stupid gig done with and go back to your world. You had finished all the planning last night and when you woke up today, you knew you felt GOOD. The adrenaline of having been basically in a fight or flight reflex for the past 6 months while sharing a bed with the cause had finally caught up. You did feel maybe a little bad for Scarlet, all her sweet soft âsweetheartâs and the little forehead kisses she gave you every morning before going to work made you a little conflicted. But every time you almost let your guard down, Bobâs words echoed in your head with a feeling of eminent doom.
You needed to unwind, so you decided to go hangout with Tina, sure you never really liked her character that much, even when you first read the book, but she had shown herself to be a great friend/cousin over the past years youâd been in this book. You were hyper and basically spent the whole day at some high end VIP club. You mustâve downed like a whole bottle of whiskey because you genuinely donât remember anything, not even the clubâs name. You woke up the nest morning, naked in bed. Oh the panic that settled within you, did you just become what you hated the most, a cheater? Did Tina leave you alone after you got drunk? What type of cousin would do that? But that all settled when you realized you were in your bedroom and it was Scarlet next to you. Wait, you slept with her? God as if this couldnât get more complicated now your drunk ass slept with her? Are we for real? Did your drunk self not get the memo to âtread carefullyâ around her? Like sure she was a super good looking woman, even by conventional standards but come on you couldnât have been that desperate last night? Thing is you had never slept with her this whole time, and since you never mentioned it, she didnât either. It wasnât that surprising since this was a rated PG-13 book so there needed to be censorship. But now you just slept with her. At first you were really panicking, but then you took a warm shower and as you showered you kinda realized it didnât matter that much because it wasnât going to affect your mission of marrying her. Maybe after sleeping with her, you unconsciously let your guard down, but you stopped feeling as tense as you did. You even decided since it was gonna be your last few days with her in this book, you should spend more time with her. Bob did not agree with your plan.
Host, respectfully, letting your guard down around Scarlet on these last crucial days of the mission isnât a good idea. It would be better to maintain the status quo and pretend nothing ever happened. You do realize I'm trying to help you avoid problems, right-
You closed the MacBook, maybe you took some solemn old robots words way too seriously back then, I mean, what could happen that could ruin this mission in its last few days? You spent the next few days hanging out with Scarlet, eating at fancy restaurants and drinking on her private yacht. The day before the wedding you decided to go out shopping with Tina to get some gifts for Scarlet since youâd be leaving her behind very soon. It was a fun day, it almost felt normal once again, your cousin teasing you about how when she drove you home your drunken self basically melted into Scarletâs arms and kept nuzzling up to her and mumbling all sorts of embarrassing nonsense and you telling her to shut up all red, and you asking her how her married life with Peter was going and her telling you cute little anecdotes. It was the life you wanted to lead once you finally returned home, one where you wouldnât push away your friends and your family ever again. You would get to treasure these little moments you shared.
When you finally returned home, it was late. The sky had turned dark and the lights were already on at home. Scarlet was supposed to go on a friends trip with some of her old friends but they had cancelled on her the day before, so she just stayed home today. You were really happy, so happy you didnât even notice the tense mood in the living room. Scarlet was sitting there on the couch, her back straight and she was fazing out looking at the fireplace. You didnât think much of it. You approached her after taking off your wind jacket and your shoes, gifts in hand.
âDarling, Iâve bought you some gifts, do you wanna take a look?â You tapped her back lightly from behind the couch waiting for her response.
âYouâre finally home, Sweetheart.â She got up and turned around to face you, and weirdly, she didnât seem too giddy. Her tone was⌠heavy.
âIs something wrong today? You look pale.â You put the gifts down behind the couch and felt her forehead with your hand, she didnât have a fever, she was actually colder than normal. She was acting highly out of character today.
âDonât you have anything to say to me, Sweetheart?â Her eyes looked hurt, even though she made a stoic face. You were confused now, what did she want you to say to her? Also what was this fit she was throwing all about?
âAre you sure youâre okay? Youâre acting weird.â You were a little scared now, you didnât like the way the was acting, it felt out of control and you were worried about your mission and tomorrowâs wedding.
âSo you were planing on hiding it from me forever, huh?â Her face turned irritated, and she even snickered, in a bad way. She pushed herself over the couch separating you, and held tightly onto your shoulders. If anything you were confused and now her grip on your shoulders was starting to hurt.
âDarling, youâre hurting me, we can talk this out-â she let go of your shoulders and you felt a chill go down your spine. Was Bob right?
âSweetheart, give me a second, I- I didnât mean to hurt you.â She took a deep breath like she was calming an inner voice and walked away to go up the stairs. She left you there, in the living room alone, with your gifts. You decided to get yourself a cup of water and sit on the sofa for a bit. It was silent except for the sound of the firewood burning. You were panicking inside, what had happened in this short 24h that had caused this? You dreaded her return.
Ten minutes later, she came down. And with her, she brought what you could only qualify as something squarish from afar. Then as she got closer, you could feel your legs giving out. She was holding your MacBook. Yes, she was holding Bob. If you hadnât been sitting down, youâd have fallen to your knees from your legs turning into spaghetti. You were speechless as she came down and sat on an armchair next to you, placing Bob down on the coffee table in front of you.
âSpeechless are we, Sweetheart? Whereâs all that concern you had for me just now?â Her words felt like venom slowly sinking into your veins. She knew, she knew she was just a mission target now. You gulped, after all how would you explain this? No, you couldnât let panic take away your return to your world, it was right within your grasp. You had to calm down and play the long game.
âI can explain. Scarlet, the truth is, Iâm actually not Jill Carlisle. I come from another universe. I fell into a coma after getting into a car accident and was sent here. Iâm sorry I lied to you.â You were rubbing your hands together nervously, you didnât know how to go on. The fact you were admitting who you truly were was already crazy to you. You looked down at the floor, trying your best to avoid her gaze.
âDo you truly think thatâs what I care about? Sweetheart, I love you. Whether youâre Jill Carlisle, a ghost, a worm or from another world, I donât care. What I want to know, is what I mean to you. Am I just a mission to you?â You could hear the shakiness in her voice, you almost felt bad. She seemed on the edge. But you couldnât give up now, not when you were so close.
âNo, Darling, maybe you used to be a mission but, I did fall in love with you. Throughout our interactions, I slowly realized I had you in my heart.â You reached out and held her hand. You finally gained the courage to look into her eyes.
âThen promise me youâll stay with me Sweetheart. Promise me you wonât return to your world.â She had hope written all over her face, she needed you to stay, and she wanted your word.
You froze. Right then and there, you lost your voice. You couldâve easily made a fake promise to lull her. But you didnât. You couldnât. It was easy acting when you were immersed into the world of the book, but now that Scarlet was breaking the fourth wall, it wasnât as easy. She felt real⌠alive. More than just some lines of text, more than just a flat hot book villain, like a vivid living person. You decided to tell her the truth.
âScarlet, I canât stay with you. I can stay for a while, but I canât stay forever. I have family waiting for me at home, I have lots of things in want to do when I return. Youâll be fine without me Scarlet, you escaped your original fate, youâll be able to live happily even without me-â It felt like a weight was lifted off your shoulder. Then, she cut you off.
âNo! You donât understand. I grew up with parents who never had time for me. Who never had time to love me. All they did was work. Then when I finally mustered the courage to love someone, she didnât like me back. I thought I couldnât have love, that I didnât deserve it.â She looked into your eyes with plea and she placed her other hand on your yours.
âBut then you appeared in my world. Sweetheart, I donât know how to explain this, but you made me feel like I found love, a love that belonged to me. You made me feel, for the first time, that I deserved to be loved. You canât pull me out of the darkness and into the light only to throw me back into the deep end. You canât do that. I canât live without you.â She looked almost crazed, as she stared you down. She had completely lost her mind. How could she expect you to stay even when she knew from the beginning she was just a mission? How could she still think you loved her? And was she threatening you with her life? It seemed Bob was right after all, she is indeed, dangerous.
âYou know that I canât-â You tried to pull your hand out of her hold, she clearly wasnât listening. But she simply held your hand tighter.
âSo youâre willing to heartlessly leave me behind, Sweetheart?â She chuckled softly, her eyes were filled with something unreadable.
âThen you can dream on.â
Everything happened in a flash. She let go of your hand and grabbed the MacBook, and without mercy or hesitation, she threw it into the fireplace. You heard faint robotic grumbles in your head.
You felt horror. There was nothing that could express the despair you felt in that moment. You were done for. You had been disconnected from your system, the one that brought you into this world. How could you ever go back to your world? You were never going to get to say goodbye to your friends and family.
You didnât even realize you had started crying until you came back to your senses and realized that Scarlet had bent down in front your sitting form and was wiping your tears with her thumb. She seemed all concerned you were crying, like she cared, when she knew very well she had made you cry. She even seemed a little proud. You couldnât take it anymore. You slapped her hand away and ran. You ran up the stairs into your bedroom and swiftly got inside the bathroom and locked the door. You needed a moment of peace.
That moment did not last long.
She was banging at the door, screaming, you couldnât hear what she was screaming, you felt a horrible pain in your head. And before you knew it, everything went white.
You saw your parents again. Your friends. Everyone you once knew flashed by. They were smiling at you, they were all around you.
You felt incredibly happy. But something felt wrong. Then their faces melted off, and you screeched. And below each face, was a familiar face, Scarlet, Tina, Peter, the aunt, the uncle⌠No! They arenât your family. They arenât your friends. You try to ball yourself up, to avoid them, but they close in on you, their bones crack as they unnaturally bend to give you an enclosing âhugâ, encasing you in their flesh.
You wake up from the nightmare in cold sweat. When you open your eyes, you realize youâre in the hospital. You see Scarlet sitting next to your hospital bed, asleep, holding your hand. You recoil and tug your hand out of her touch. This movement ends up waking her up.
She yawned like nothing was wrong, and approached her mouth to your ear. âSweetheart, I spent the whole night looking after you, after you fainted in the bathroom, isnât that a little ungrateful?â The pet name that once sounded cute was now almost repulsive. It was harrowing. You flinched back, and you sank into your hospital bed as much as you could.
âMy patience has its limits, sweetheart. Stop this now.â She got up and grabbed you up from the bed to face her. Her face, her stare, her voice, they all scared you. You couldnât find any grain of the girlfriend who softly called you âSweetheartâ or who gave you light forehead kisses every morning. All you saw was the crazed woman who threw your system in the fireplace and got you stuck in this world you didnât belong in. You couldnât help but uncontrollably shake under her gaze. You didnât know what else this maniac could or would do.
Then as you pitifully shook under her hold, she turned all nice again, playing the caring fiancĂŠe who was worried about you. She was showing you what she could do to you if you displeased her again.
Soon the doctor came and you were promptly discharged, after all the doctor diagnosed that you had simply fainted out of a big scare.
The wedding happened like nothing was wrong. Except you knew, everything was wrong. And yet, you were too scared to object her. You pretended everything was fine in front of everyone. After all what good would it do now that you could never return to your world again? And like that, you went through a whole day of ceremonies, without really being there mentally. Everyone was having fun and celebrating, and it only felt more like a mockery of your fate. Even the 3 story red velvet cake you had plagiarized tasted too sweet, so sweet it felt bitter in your mouth. Tina making small talk with you was painful, hearing her talk about the things Peter did that she found cute made you feel even worse. Everyone else was surrounded by their friends and family, except you. Scarlet told everyone you had fainted from stress yesterday and that was why you were tired and she had the ceremony end early.
That night, you sat on the bed youâve been sharing, and you didnât know how to feel, the emotions had settled a little but you had become numb. You should have listened to Bob back then. You shouldnât have let your guard down. You failed yourself. But most importantly, you had failed your family and friends. You felt a tear stream down your face. You were now forever going to be Jill Carlisle. Forever.
Then Scarlet came out of the shower. She was smiling all happy. After all things had gone her way. Why wouldnât she be happy, she married you and you were still with her. She had won, she knew that.
âSweetheart, you still havenât made up for lying to me and trying to abandon me before. How are you planning on doing that?â She approached slowly, deliberately. And she pinned you down on the bed. You couldnât hold back your shivers as she wiped your tear away. But you didnât even have the nerve or the energy left to go against her. You just let her kiss you while she unbuttoned your shirt.
