Pinch Hitter Sign Ups
In the case someone drops from the event, we'll need pinch hitters to be backups for any giftees!
As stated before, pinch hitters will receive a gift from the person between them and their giftee, both you and your gifter will receive a pinch hitter posting date at this time.
Pinch hitters do not have the option to give physical gifts, or to be specific about what they want as a gift. However, pinch hitters will state what they do not want in their gift along with the type of gift they are willing to make for the giftee.
We ask that anyone who has signed up for the gift exchange not sign up to be a pinch hitter!

Hey, update on emails, they should all be out within 2 or 3 hours from now. There's about 15 or 16 people left to get to!

Gift Exchange Sign Ups Are Open!
They close June 14th!
Please be sure to look at both the schedule and the requirements! In order to get a gift you must be willing to give a gift.
If you want to sign up, please fill out the form here! Discord will be mandatory, and both Flubi and Glacier will be emailing you with your gift requirements and a link to the server.
Make sure you read each section of the form carefully!
When choosing what gifts you want, please only select the options that you'd like to receive! Give us as much information as you can!
Please note, for podfics, you may only request podfics of fics that you have written or asking your giftee to write a podfic for you! They may not be of someone else's work.
Some things to note! The person giving you a gift is not the person you will be giving a gift to. Please keep who you are creating a gift for a secret until your gifting date!
Instead of A < - > B:
It will be more like A - > B - > C - > D - > A.
If you drop out of the event a pinch hitter will take your place and you will not receive a gift!

I have some concerns regarding drop-outs and having to write something different for a pinch hitter.
What if a person has already finished a gift for the person who initially dropped out and no longer has time to make a new one? This seems like it has solid potential to cause a cascade of problems up the gifting chain.
Additionally, what happens if the new pinch hit giftee has preferences that don’t match what the gifter wants to create for at all? This doesn’t seem fair to the gifter.
Does the pinch hitter receive two gifts because they create two gifts…? In other giveaways, pinch hitters usually take on a pinch hit with the knowledge and expectation that they’ll still only receive one gift. Unless you’re planning to pull in pinch hitters from outside the event, this seems a bit unbalanced.
I’m not asking you to change the event parameters but as someone with limited time and creative energy who still wants to participate, I just want to know how you’d address at least the first two (honestly fairly likely) scenarios.

Hello and thank you for the question! Per the schedule the last day to drop from the event is July 12th as this is a shorter event. The creation period lasts approximately 2 months, so we understand there's not a lot of time to create in general.
Between when creation starts and the last day to drop, there are around 12 days, though depending on when you get the email you may have had more time to create. I doubt there will be anything completed, but in the case that there *is* we will then work with that gifter on an individual basis to see what to do.
When pulling in a pinch hitter, we will be comparing both what the pinch hitter's preferences are and what the previous gifter's gift guidelines (and preferences) were to create as much of a match as we can. Obviously this will vary depending on the pinch hitters who sign up, and we will be ensuring to contact the gifter and let them know that they will be given a *pinch hitter posting date*. This is to ensure that they have adequate time to create a new gift for the pinch hitter.
Along with that, pinch hitters do not get the full list of preferences that those who signed up for the event get. While everyone who initially signs up for the event will get to pic between: fanfic, art, etc... pinch hitters Do Not get those choices.
Also, a pinch hitter would be creating one gift, not two. Pinch hitters sign up open after the original sign ups close, we wouldn't be pulling anyone who already is in the event to be a pinch hitter due to the fact that there are only 2 months to create a gift.
What happens in the case someone drops after July 12th?
Creation period is from July 1st until posting starts on September 12th. Again, this gives creators just over 2 months to create, which is why the last day to drop is July 12th.
However, I know this doesn't stop people from dropping an event after the drop date! If someone drops after the drop date we will be pulling a pinch hitter in ASAP, and we will then contact the previous gifter to see what they can do gift wise.

Why the rule that podfics must be your own work? Most exchanges that allow podfics only ask that you get permission from the writer.
Unless the giftee has specifically specified a fic of theirs that they'd like turned into a podfic, we do require that podfics be your own work specifically created for the event.
This is mostly due to the fact that we want gifts to be specifically created for the event and the giftee, and while the podfic might be from you to your giftee, if the writing is from someone else then it was not written with the intent of being a gift for the giftee.
Hi! I'm sorry if this is a dumb question but I was just wondering if there were any info about how the gifts will be exchanged? Like privately via a Google doc link? DMs? Social media post? Any public collection/tag like in AO3? Depends on the gifter/giftee wishes?

Not a dumb question at all! (And apologies it took me so long to answer this ask).
We ask that all gifts be exchanged in tumblr DMs and on tumblr (tagging both the giftee and this blog), along with the tumblr posts using the tags:

We'll also probably make an AO3 collection for fic gifts, but that's something that will probably come later once we have the different gifts being given confirmed (either after the first or second check in).
If a gifter also wants to give their giftee their gift outside of DMs, they must contact the giftee on their own to discuss details after their posting date.
