Unless the giftee has specifically specified a fic of theirs that they'd like turned into a podfic, we do require that podfics be your own work specifically created for the event.

This is genuinely my bad, I think I put in the wrong auto close date. I can't do anything form wise today since I'm nowhere near my laptop and don't have it on my phone, so I'm seeing if another mod can open it up again. I will post an update when it's available again!

What if a person has already finished a gift for the person who initially dropped out and no longer has time to make a new one? This seems like it has solid potential to cause a cascade of problems up the gifting chain.

Additionally, what happens if the new pinch hit giftee has preferences that don’t match what the gifter wants to create for at all? This doesn’t seem fair to the gifter.

Does the pinch hitter receive two gifts because they create two gifts…? In other giveaways, pinch hitters usually take on a pinch hit with the knowledge and expectation that they’ll still only receive one gift. Unless you’re planning to pull in pinch hitters from outside the event, this seems a bit unbalanced.

I’m not asking you to change the event parameters but as someone with limited time and creative energy who still wants to participate, I just want to know how you’d address at least the first two (honestly fairly likely) scenarios.

Hello and thank you for the question! Per the schedule the last day to drop from the event is July 12th as this is a shorter event. The creation period lasts approximately 2 months, so we understand there's not a lot of time to create in general.

Between when creation starts and the last day to drop, there are around 12 days, though depending on when you get the email you may have had more time to create. I doubt there will be anything completed, but in the case that there *is* we will then work with that gifter on an individual basis to see what to do.

When pulling in a pinch hitter, we will be comparing both what the pinch hitter's preferences are and what the previous gifter's gift guidelines (and preferences) were to create as much of a match as we can. Obviously this will vary depending on the pinch hitters who sign up, and we will be ensuring to contact the gifter and let them know that they will be given a *pinch hitter posting date*. This is to ensure that they have adequate time to create a new gift for the pinch hitter.

Along with that, pinch hitters do not get the full list of preferences that those who signed up for the event get. While everyone who initially signs up for the event will get to pic between: fanfic, art, etc... pinch hitters Do Not get those choices.

Also, a pinch hitter would be creating one gift, not two. Pinch hitters sign up open after the original sign ups close, we wouldn't be pulling anyone who already is in the event to be a pinch hitter due to the fact that there are only 2 months to create a gift.

What happens in the case someone drops after July 12th?

Creation period is from July 1st until posting starts on September 12th. Again, this gives creators just over 2 months to create, which is why the last day to drop is July 12th.

We ask that all gifts be exchanged in tumblr DMs and on tumblr (tagging both the giftee and this blog), along with the tumblr posts using the tags:

We'll also probably make an AO3 collection for fic gifts, but that's something that will probably come later once we have the different gifts being given confirmed (either after the first or second check in).

So when we say be as detailed about the gift you want, we mean if there's anything that comes to mind that you know you'd want as a gift!

So for the former, you could clarify what you'd prefer with the different gift mediums you selected (e.g. for art you could clarify that you want a piece within the setting of the spaceship where as with a fic you'd prefer the setting to mostly be on Erid).

For the latter, you could expand on what you already put for those prompts, tags, and tropes and be more specific. (e.g. for the tropes question: enemies to lovers, for the detailed question: I'd like something that explores both characters in an interesting way which highlights how they become lovers at the end).

Also for the detailed question, maybe there are small things you'd like included in whatever gift you have been given that we didn't ask about previously on the form. Maybe you're okay with some things in fic form that you aren't in art form, so you clarify that there!
