“Here is adventure. Here is romance. Here is mystery. Tropical rivers – silently flowing into the unknown. The unbelievable splendor of exotic flowers … the eerie sound of the jungle … with eyes that are always watching. This is Adventureland.”

“Hello, Hiro.”
DCP Roles - Merchandise
For my extension, I worked Merch.Â
Again, this is probably gonna be a bit ramble-ly like my attractions post.
Where I worked: Main Street East. This consisted of quite a few stores, and had a lot of specialization involved. It was split up into zones.
Zone 1: Uptown Jewelers/Pandora jewelry/the Cinema store. A lot of people tended to not like this zone. It’s usually where I got scheduled, and I personally loved it. I loved all the non-CP’s whose bid was for zone 1. I also really enjoyed working at Pandora, who doesn’t want to stare at pretty jewelry all day?
Zone 2: Confectionary, depending on the group of CP’s everyone gets trained in the kitchen, making the apples and stuff, but not always. For example, I wasn’t in the group that had to. It has its perks, like 50 more cents an hour. But, usually CP’s only got scheduled kitchen shifts.Â
Zone 3: Box Office Gifts, the train carts that are right when you enter the park, Curtain Call Noncollectable and the Chapeau. This zone you have two positions where you get to embroider hats. I have no idea what happened, but I just never got signed off or really trained at all to embroider, so I was never assigned the hatter positions. (yes it’s called hatter, which is pretty fun).Â
Training: Training for Merch was a lot longer. First, you have a class at Disney University called Merchentainment where you basically learn how to use the registers. After that you have your on the job training. This was a lot longer considering MSE was so specialized. There was no assessment where you have to prove you know what you’re doing like Attractions, but there was a written assessment.Â
What I liked: I liked that with merch you could pick up wherever you would like. Also, I enjoyed how much guest interaction you had. In attractions, you interacted a lot but it was usually quick interactions, but in merchandise you had time to make conversations with families, especially through pin tradingÂ
What I didn’t like: Compared to attractions, it was quite slow. Especially because I was in the jewelry store pretty much constantly which wasn’t the busiest. Also, because Main Street East has a super huge cast, it didn’t feel like a close-knit family like Philharmagic did.Â
“Here is the world of imagination, hopes, and dreams. In this timeless land of enchantment, the age of chivalry, magic and make-believe are reborn - and fairy tales come true. Fantasyland is dedicated to the young-in-heart, to those who that when you wish upon a star, your dreams come true.”
