Hi twin!!! I’m so happy I found you on here, I just made this account for my fics and I got recommended your stuff! Anyways, what flavors do you think each of the boys favor? I feel like Josh likes strawberry stuff.
Hi bestie!!!! (♡ˊ͈ ꒳ ˋ͈) Thank you for the message, It's so nice to have you in here!!! I hope you enjoy tumblr. I'm so sorry it took me so long to reply! This is such an interesting question, especially when we can work with flavors that they liked as teens and how they developed into their adulthood. One thing that I'd like to make clear is that none of them would like coffee LMAO. They didn't like it as teens, and I don't think it would change in their adulthood.
♦ Josh liking strawberry flavored stuff works so well, I could see him being the kind of person who loves strawberry flavored everything but hates the taste of the actual fruit (I used to be like that lmao). I could see him as a teen having a sweet tooth and disliking anything that's not too sweet. Maybe he has been eating everything with sugar/corn syrup since he was a kid (like he has always been fat and it could've been because his parents don't know how to show their love for him, so they allow him to indulge in whatever food he wants? this comes from a place of self-reflection btw, I was fat as a child because my parents were divorced, so when I went grocery shopping with my dad he let me buy all the snacks :V). Maybe we could even get into the "jewish mom" stereotype of "son you have to eat more, you're not eating enough." Anyway, I think Josh would love anything sweet and artificial, and as an adult, when he tries alcohol, it would take him a while to get used to bitter and dry tastes, but eventually he would get into it, and as an adult he probably has a broad sense of taste. But he still wouldn't eat fruit.
Like, as an adult, I could see him masking his preference for artificial sweetness in an attempt to look more grown up. When going out, he wouldn't order those monster milkshakes full of sugar and sprinkles. He would order something made from carbonated water and flavored syrup. So it's still something sweet, but it looks more grown up. It's just something deep and psychological about how tied he still is to his childhood, and even as he tries to mature, he still goes back to that same artificial sweetness for some comfort.
♦ Pete probably likes grape, idk, he seems to be the kind of edgy kid that would drink grape juice and pretend to be drinking blood. If I'm allowed to lean into Italian stereotipi 🤌, he could have tasted wine still in his teens lol. And he probably enjoys the taste of cheese, cold cuts, and tomato puree. He probably favors savory tastes as opposed to sweet. I think Pete in general wouldn't have a "favorite flavor", he would have things he likes and that's pretty much it. He canonically has older brothers, so if he grew up in a full house, I could see him being the kind of person who just eats what he is presented with, not worrying about the flavor. I think he'd probably think sweet-salty things are gross, like you don't mix something sweet with something salty (like salted caramel/pineapple on pizza/jam on burgers), and he could be vocal about it. As an adult, I could see him drinking whatever alcohol comes his way, caring less about the taste and more about the effect.
So I think as a teen his relationship with flavor is a bit performative and he doesn't really overthink it, more like "it's there so I'll taste it," and then as an adult his tastes become more grounded, he is able to understand what he likes and doesn't since he isn't in a survival situation where he has to fight for the last pork chop with his brothers. He could even drink coffee when it's offered, even if he doesn't like it, but because it's there and the caffeine boost is welcome, he would still complain about it tasting like shit. Def energy drink addict and connoisseur of the fruity flavors from vape cartridges.
♦ Jerry is cool to work with, since as an adult he canonically "tries to eat right." Canonically, he is also the weakest of them as teens (that's why he throws up in marathon men), and since he is canonically skinny, I think he could be the kind of guy who is skinny because he doesn't think much about food/forgets to eat. In marathon men he gets mostly salty snacks for the night, so I could see him not caring about sweets. Maybe his favorite sweet flavor would be cola, like if he has to get some candy he would choose that. As an adult, he probably eats fruit often, so he probably enjoys sour flavors.
So I think this is where there's this cool parallel: as a teen he's passive about food, and as an adult he starts choosing things on purpose. He probably still doesn't really care about sweet flavors, with sour and bitter things fitting him better. He wouldn't drink coffee, but he would sip on Mandi's lattes when offered. He probably would like matcha, but I think he wouldn't seek it and would only really drink it when offered. He's more open-minded to try things as an adult.
♦ Bill, for me, just seems to be the kind of guy that likes chocolate lol. He was getting a pot belly, so he probs eats a lot of junk, and I could see him being the kind of guy who needs a "sweet treat" to get through the day. Sugar gives him an energy burst and I also could see him explaining endlessly how white chocolate isn't real chocolate and how dubai chocolate is a disgrace to real chocolate. Maybe his favorite flavor would change depending on which superhero he would be LARPing as. As an adult, he would still be eating PBJs and drinking hot chocolate milk every day, and when he tries alcohol, he would absolutely hate how it tastes but would still push it down because that's what grown-ups are supposed to do, right?
And that kind of leans into how I like to write Bill. As a teen he would see liking sweet stuff as comfort, but as an adult he would see it as a weakness, because in his twisted mind "real men" don't like sweets, they like bitter flavors. I could see him forcing himself into liking bitter flavors, despite hating it with all his strength, as an attempt to show the world he is a "real man." But he would never be able to like those flavors, and no matter how much he would try to hide his craving for sweets, it would never go away. And this is how I like to write Bill: a fucked up guy who rejects parts of himself and calls it maturity.
Again, thanks for the ask! This was really fun to think about and write! ( っˊᗜˋ)(ᵔ ᵕ ᵔ˶) ♡
