Today was a good day. I got so into my the text that I forgot to turn the lights on😅 It really felt good to have a productive day! This semester I didn’t start off well because I decided to drop a course, and I felt (sometimes I still do feel) like a loser for only taking 2 courses 😔 On the other hand, forcing myself to sit and study things I’m not ready to sit down and study for hours on end is also not a good decision either...

But! I think the start of October and just going out of the house has helped me to muster new energy for studying! One more reason to love autumn, if you ask me🍂

What is the meaning behind your tumblr url? I’m doing my PhD in Korean linguistics, so my thesis will be written in hangeul (한글, Korean script/alphabet). Hangeul is also the name of a Office Word type of software (but waaaaay worse). I just thought it makes it a witty username.

What do you think are the best traits for a person to have? Honesty. I really like it when people don’t exaggerate or downplay things, and just give it to you they way the things are. I like people who are honest about what they don’t know, and are ok with that. I think too many of us too many times feel pressured to know everything and have everything figured out.  

What is your idea of the perfect day? An autumn day which starts with a crisp morning. 

What scares you most about your future? The uncertainty. I’m not sure what will be my options by the time I graduate. Things can change pretty quickly when there’s no need to.

What is the biggest risk you’ve ever taken? Deciding to move to Korea to attend a  grad school to major in what is basically my 3rd language, a language I wasn’t completely fluent in (hint: it’s Korean).

What has been the lowest point of your life? That would be starting a MA program back at home. It was nothing like I’ve been promised, and I really couldn’t muster energy to go to classes or even pay attention in classes. I just didn’t know what do to with my life that semester. I dropped out to study Korean linguistics in Korea.

What does success mean to you? Being content with your life. Liking where you’re at in life.

What are you most passionate about? Tough one. I’m interested in many things, but I’m not the type of person who is very passionate about one thing. Lately I’m trying to quit fast fashion. Which is proving to be quite hard to do in Korea. I’m taller than average, and I have longer legs and bigger feet than an average Korean woman, so I do what I can.

If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be? Anywhere when I can ride my bicycle without fearing for my life. Also, anywhere where’s not overpopulated. 

What’s the best compliment you’ve ever received? The first compliment my partner gave me on my “mysterious emerald eyes”😆 I love it because he had no idea how cheesy and cringy the compliment was; he just really meant it. He’s an awkward bean.

Getting ready for August🌻

Long time no post! The reason behing that was that I decided to take summer holidays seriously 😆 I completely turned off my brain and just enjoyed days doing not school related things.

Today I’m at a cafe reading a book I bought few years ago, but never got round to reading it. It’s Thirteen Moons by Charles Frazier.

Who are you named after? A film character. The character’s original name was a bit long, so my mum chose a similar short name. 

Last time you cried? The day before I turned in my final paper for a class... I had hard time writing it.

Do you like your handwriting? I do^^

Longest relationship? The one I’m in now <3

Do you still have your tonsils? Yes.

Would you bungee jump? No. I prefer to give myself a heart attack and unnecessary stress by being in grad school.

What is your favorite kind of cereal? I like muesli with dark chocolate bits. (does muesli count as a type of cereal?)

Do you untie your shoes when you take them off? Nope.

Do you think you’re strong-willed?  Yes.

Favorite ice cream? Green tea! Or malcha, or matcha.  

What is the first thing you notice about a person? Eyes.

Football or baseball? Neither. 

What color pants are you wearing? Stressed denim.

Last thing you ate? Kimbab!

What are you listening to? The sound of train passing by.

If you were a crayon, what color would you be? That one that looks dark blue, but it’s actually dark violet.

What is your favorite smell? Clean cotton (that Yankee candle scent)

Who was the last person you talked to on the phone? My partner’s uncle. He’s a very sweet man. 

Married? Maybe?

Hair color? Poopy brown.

Eye color? Grayish green.

Favorite food to eat? I don’t have an all time favourite food, but lately I’ve been craving french fries. 

Scary movies? Sure. As long it’s not 1~2 hours of only scare-jumps. 

Last movie you watched in a theatre? Star Wars IX: The Rise of the Skywalker. I was very disappointed TT

What color shirt are you wearing? Black.

Favorite Holiday? I’m not really a fan of any holiday. Maybe Halloween’s the closest to being my favourite.

Beer or Wine? Team wine!

Night owl or early bird? Both. At the same time. Who needs sleep.

Favorite day of the week? Don’t have one. 

Favorite animal? All baby animals. They’re all such cute little things! 

Do you have a pet? No. I wanna adopt a cat, though.

Where would you like to travel? Hmm,.. Melbourne’s been number one on my list for some time now. I heard coffee is very good there!

Oh, gosh, the semester ends this week!! These 4 months felt like an eternity to me. And as a result I’m pretty much struggling with sitting down and writing up my assigments. I’m just so tired; so drained. Is it just me?

I made my first bubble tea today! I didn’t get the tea: soymilk ratio correct, so it wasn’t perfect. But it was good enough for the first try.

Only a week left to write up and submit final paper draft! I powered through my search for papers sipping on this yummy banana soymilk thingie.

I thought I had a great idea, but as I thought about details, the methodology, I sadly came to realise that the topic might be impossible. There go 2 days of searching for papers! 😭

But I think I can loosely use those sources for the new potential research topic. Hope it’ll go smooth this time!!🙇🏻‍♀️
