The Originals - again
Ok, so I rewatched the episode and allowed myself to stop and think about everything. And the more I think about it, the less I hate it. Maybe this is just my brain going into defense mode and trying to find some type of solace.
I still believe that there were things that could have prevented Klaus from dying but for the purpose of this narrative, there wasnât. Ok, I can come to terms with the fact that Klaus gives his life so that his daughter can live even if I think Hope would be a lot better of with Klaus in the picture. Seems unfair for her to be orphaned but then again, life isnât always fair. Happy endings are not always black and white. Elijah taking Klausâ place would have been a good ending but at the same time it would have been to similar to TVD so in that aspect I understand why they didnât go that route. Iâm not all for this co-dependency that Klaus and Elijah have but it is something that has been going on for 1000 years. It would have been difficult to break. I donât think Elijah would have been able to live with himself knowing that his little brother is dead because like it or not, Elijahâs life had been consumed with Klaus. He has been feeling responsible for Klaus ever since Mikael died, being his better half this entire time so leaving him die alone was out of the question to him. This was his way of showing him that he was in it to the end with him. Find peace with his brother or face the darkness with him. In that way its kind of beautiful.Â
The choice of leaving this open ended is something that has angered many, including myself. Part of me gets it. When Klaus asks Elijah what happens after. What if there is no peace but darkness. Elijah tells him that they will face that together. So thatâs the point of this. That it doesnât matter what happens or where they go. What matters is that they are together, facing whatever comes at them. Elijah the one pushing for Klausâ redemption wants to be there to make sure it pays off in the afterlife. And there is also something comforting in knowing that they went down by their own terms. They were not killed by hatred or revenge, but by unconditional love.Â
Again, I still think their deaths were unnecessary and Iâm seriously done with the whole âkilling the main characterâ trope because its a cheap way of ending a story. I think Klausâ redemption should have been beside Hope, teaching her how to be a werewolf and watching her grow up. However, if death was the only answer then Iâm glad that it went this way. That he was not alone and had his big brother, his best friend and his âsoulmateâ by his side.Â
Now, with all that Iâm still bitter about the ambiguous ending. I understand the reason behind it as a storyteller but as a viewer Iâm still annoyed by it. I still wished we had an extra scene of Klaus visiting Hope at the boarding school and smiling at her just as he smiled at Elijah when he visited him in France. That they wouldâve made that smile, that happy redeemed smile, the last thing we see. I do believe that even in death, Klaus would have done whatever it took to be around Hope.
But ok, if they want us to come with an answer then Iâm just going to pretend Klaus found Stefan in the afterlife and let my Klefan heart be happy.
On another note, there are a few things Iâm seeing around tumblr that people are confused about and Iâd like to address them.
Some suggested using Aurora as a vessel for the Hollow since she is sleeping. That wouldnât have worked because by possessing Hope in the first place, the only other vessels that could contain the Hollow would be those related to Hope by blood. Frankly, they were better off sharing the Hollow between the four of them.Â
The sire line dying off. The only Original with a sire line is Rebekah. Davina unliked Klausâ line and Elijahâs died off after he was killed by the Hollow in s4.Â
Rebekah taking the cure from Damon and killing him. Damon is human right now and would start to rapidly die if the cure is taken from him. This is why its not happening now. I think the plan is to wait until Damon is ready to die of old age for Rebekah to take the cure. Or Caroline will get her the cure somehow after Damonâs death?Â
Rebekah and Marcel having a baby once she becomes human because he is some type of hybrid. Technically yes, he is a super vamp and has the venom of the seven werewolf packs. But this does not make him a true hybrid. Unlike Klaus, he was not born a werewolf and that was the loophole. He is at the core, a vampire. Therefore, he canât procreate.Â
The Originals
Finally mustered the courage to watch the last few episodes of this show and to say that Iâm disappointed is an understatement. Disappointed not only for the finale but for the season as a whole. Sometimes the show as a whole. This show had such a great potential that was just wasted on pointless storylines. I for one will forever be bitter over the fact that they focused more on Hayley than Rebekah. Nothing against Hayley because I do like her character. However, the whole baby plot shifted the focus of a show that should have been based on the Original Vampires and them finding redemption together as a family. I always thought that turning Klaus into a father was a cheap way of giving him a redemption arc but I rolled with it. I found some satisfaction watching the parallels between Klausâ approach to fatherhood and Mikaelâs. How the cycle of abuse was broken by a creature everyone believed to be the devil. I did enjoy all of the scenes with Klaus and Hope and how this baby ended up transforming him. I wished it had been the love he had for his siblings without the addition of a baby but I digress.
So in season 3 Klaus sacrifices himself for his siblings and for Hope and misses most of her childhood. Then, the Hollow happens and he is unable to be around Hope without causing the apocalypse. He decides to completely ignore his daughter for years because he didnât want to destroy her. However, after Hayleyâs death he decides to step up and be the father he always wanted to be but was too afraid to try. Awesome. I could have accepted Hayleyâs death if it meant that it would give Klaus the push he needed to be Hopeâs dad. He decides to die instead. We also spent all this time hearing about Elijahâs sickening co-dependency with Klaus. How much he suffered because of the crimes he committed as a vampire. The whole Elijah losing his memories storyline forced Klaus to stand on his own. To believe that he could be a good father and a good man on his own. Elijah had served his purpose so him taking Klausâ place would have been the perfect ending for him. He would have died with the knowledge that Klaus was redeemed and he wouldâve found his peace in the afterlife. Julie Plec mentioned that their happy ending was them being released from the burden of immortality but lets remember that Klaus actually liked being a hybrid. He liked his strength and his power. The things he hated were his feeling of not being good enough and his fears of abandonment. His cruelty over the years was a defense mechanism because he never wanted to feel weak and powerless again. It wasnât vampirism. He has stated plenty of times that he enjoys being the immortal hybrid. So this is not the ending he wanted. He wanted to live and watch Hope grow into a beautiful woman.Â
I donât ship Klaroline. Iâve been very up front regarding my feelings towards this ship, but even that was a waste. Why bring Caroline to the show in the first place? Why drag her towards another heartache? It just further shows that it was just last minute fan service. Seriously I could have jumped on the ship if Julie had written them and treated the characters with the respect they deserved. Treated her audience and her fans with the respect they deserved.Â
Her lack of imagination is outstanding. Why not put Klaus into a magical coma like they did Aurora or a chambre de chasse like they have done before until they found out a way to rid the hollow from him? Because he is immortal he could sleep for as long as necessary. Desiccate him like they once did before? Turn him to stone like they did with Sylas? Or curse him into werewolf form forever and have him visit Hope at school in his werewolf form. Which by the way, YOU NEVER SHOWED!Â
But okay, letâs say for arguments sake that THIS was the only possible solution because the Hollow is just too powerful to contain. Why the ambiguity? I get the allure of open endings because it gives us the opportunity to come up with our own ending but in this case its just wrong. Why not showing the audience the peace that they both wanted? I accepted the fact Stefan died because we saw him finding peace with Lexi. We know he missed Damon but he got to spend the afterlife with his best friend who he missed dearly. We saw it. Right after Elijah and Klaus killing one another and their ashes are taken away by the wind, the screen turns to black and we are left empty.Â
Instead, they should have shown Hope Mikaelson getting ready to leave for the Salvatore Boarding School, putting books and the picture of herself as a baby with her parents. Then you see Klaus standing by the door, watching her, smiling and saying âIâm so proud of you, my littlelest wolf.â At least we would know that he is happy in the afterlife and watching over the daughter he fought so hard to protect.
No, we donât get to know what happens to our favorite characters after death because apparently after 8 years of faithfully following their journey, we have not earned the right to.Â

my thoughts of being a klaroline + klayley shipper
since season five of the originals started iâve been feeling really conflicted about being in the klaroline fandom. i have been a fan of klaroline since i watched the vampire diaries, and i mean a hardcore fan. honestly, i ship caroline and klaus with everybody. i canât help it. i absolutely loved stefan and caroline and also really enjoyed klaus and camille on the originals. all in all, i just love both shows and always thought i could go along shipping klaroline and everything else. but then season five started and i tried, i really did, to like klaroline. i just couldnât get into it. their interactions felt unnatural and maybe it was just sucky writing but honestly i think itâs because when they interacted on tvd klaus was a different person. simple as that.
i always loved their dynamic, mostly because neither of them were willing to sacrifice who they were to please the other. klaus acknowledged he was someone who does terrible things and isnât going to change (iâm basing this off old klaus, we all know i love him to pieces no matter what he does) and caroline made it clear her friends and morals came first. but then klaus left and had hope. the past however many years since that day in the woods *wink wink* have been the unarguably the most life changing of his one thousand years of life and he came out of them a completely different person. iâm not really going to talk about klayley in this post because thatâs not really the point of this but in my opinion who klaus is now needs hayley, not caroline.
as for the klaroline fandom, i understand as someone who also waited so long for them to reunite that it feels as if those moments in the originals belong to you in some way but as someone who has also watched the originals since it started five years ago you also need to keep in mind if you havenât been watching the show since the beginning or watch it just for klaroline that this show means a lot more than just klaroline for people. this show has helped me through a lot and means a lot to me and it does ruin in when certain klaroline fans (this is only a few iâve seen the majority of the fandom is lovely) make it all about klaroline. yes the writers included them (although i personally wish they hadnât) but this show is on its final season and a lot of other characters and their storylines are more important then klaroline to me and those who have watched this show for a while so just keep that in mind.
obviously, this is just me rambling and is not meant to be offensive in any way⌠please understand this comes from a place of wanting everyone to get along.

The naming of Hope A n d r e a Mikaelson
Dear Klaus
    Y O U   N E E D   M E .
In 7 years Hayley Marshall never gave up on him.
Sorry Iâm still emotional about this.
Give me that box of letters. Please.
That is the thing that got to me the most and why Iâm falling for these two. Klaus telling Hayley that she is not a Mikaelson as a compliment. How she should give up on him because she is better than that. But Hayley knew how much Klaus loves Hope and how much it pained him to be away from her and she didnât want him to miss on the important moments of her life. So she wrote to him and sent those letters to the places she thought sheâd find him. Even after they kept returning back to her she didnât stop sending them just in case one of them made it to him. Yes, she did this for Hope because it was her way of connecting her to her father, but it was mostly for Klaus. To remind him that he still mattered in their lives. That he had a place to come back to and that his family would wait for him. And she hoped that when he did come back that he wouldnât feel like a stranger. Idk, maybe I am a Klayley shipper after all. LOL

Klaus + taking care of his pregnant-little wolf. Â Â | 1.02 / 5.08 |
Here is Klaus Mikaelson doing something for someone else without the need of being guilt tripped into it and without expecting something in return.
FUCK KLAYLEY and your blog!
Wonderful. Amazing what you wrote really.
Why bothering in the first place? If you hate them you should leave my blog maybe. They are too beautiful for you, and I have no time for people who have no respect for others.Â
Probably a Klaroline shipper.
Iâm going to just say it
Not to be petty but Iâm going to just say it: letters have been a klaroline thing since TVD. These âkl@yley lettersâ have been mentioned in how many episodes? Oh right, this has been and will be the only episode theyâre mentioned. I donât even think Klaus wrote her back? Plus these letters are meant to signify his love for Hope. Thatâs why he kept them. Not because heâs secretly in love with h@yley lol. đ¤ˇđťââď¸
I was waiting for this to come out and the Klaroline ship never disappoints. It is the thing that annoys me about this whole ship wars thing. People trying to make everything about their ship and just ignoring everything else or just twisting things around to fit their story. First of all, letters are not exclusive to Klaroline. Itâs not like they called dibs on that. Two letters sent years apart does not constitute a thing. Now, if they wrote to each other constantly then that would be a different story. Even Katherine wrote Klaus a letter, so no - thats ridiculous. And the Klaroline letters are never brought up on the show again either. The only reason they are so famous is because of social media. Also, Klaus didnât keep Hayleyâs letters. He didnât know they existed until he found them in that box while looking for the keys. Hayley wrote them after that skype convo when he told her they didnât have to talk anymore and she didnât have to give him reports about Hope. And instead of going âyeah, screw him I wonât tell him anything anymoreâ, she wrote him letters and sent them to the places she thought she would find him but they never got to him. In 7 years Hayley never gave up on him. She made an effort to make sure that Klaus didnât miss moments from Hopeâs life. And where was Caroline through all this, exactly? Because until I see a letter from Caroline trying to reach Klaus to show him some support or to let him know how Hope was doing in school your argument is invalid.
#Klaus has had enough of this ElijahÂ

dear klaus, youâd have been proud of hope day.  sheâs back home for summer break. i brought her out to the bayou for the crawfish boil, hoping sheâd play with the other crescent kids, but when i turned around, she was gone. i found her inside at maryâs bedside, telling her stories and singing to her. sometimes i think about all of the unlikely things that led to her existenceâ you and i, born a thousand years apart, and all of the petty crap that brought us to that one night in mystic falls. itâs been hard⌠but the truth is, i watched her curled up next to that dying woman, and i knew i wouldnât change a thing. in all my life, iâve never felt lucky before her.   Â
anyways. we miss you.  hayley.
Klaus cut ties with them still Hayley Queen Marshall didnât give up, sending him letters. Hayley believed in him more than Klaus ever did with himself.
I donât necessarily consider myself a Klayley shipper. At least not exclusively. I think Klaus has had his fair share of connections in his life and people (human and supernatural alike) that have left a mark in his life. Every single one has brought something different out of him but I do think that one of the most important relationships he had was with Hayley Marshall. Forget about them as a couple for a moment because people seem to focus solely on one type of love sometimes that they forget that there are different ways to love. There is love shared by family, the one shared by friends, the one shared by lovers. Honestly, I donât think Klaus even realized how much Hayley meant to him until she was gone. Until this moment when we see him break. Because Hayley not only gave him his daughter, but she never gave up on him when anyone in her shoes would have done so. Even after Klaus told her she wasnât a Mikaelson and she was free from them she still believed in him. Hayley spent five years searching for a way to save him from captivity and in all that time she made sure to tell Hope how much her father loved her. And during those 7 years that Klaus was absent from Hopeâs life, she never spoke ill of him or made Hope believe that her life would be better off without Klaus in her life. For a long time Hayley understood Klaus, not only emotionally but physically because they were the only two hybrids in existence. They trusted each other, believed in each other, lifted each other up and they both earned each otherâs respect through a lot of bullshit. You can believe that everything that happened was just random coincidence and if that is the case then it is a beautiful one. Because Klaus spent a thousand years trying to break the curse to restore his werewolf side only to get more than what he had bargained for. She says so in the letter how they were born a thousand years apart and managed to find one another at the perfect moment to give life to Hope. That is one hell of a LOVE story. Hayley Marshall was Klausâ equal in every way. She was the closest thing to a soulmate he could ever have asked for and it is a tragedy that he lost her before he could tell her just how much she meant to him. Â
People who call klaroline "fan serving" is just jealous and bitter that their ship failed.
I actually donât have a ship. I like Hayley with Klaus but I wouldnât call myself a shipper. Unlike some people, I donât watch shows for ships but the story and to watch the characters I love develop. The reason why Klaroline is the worse kind of fan service to me has nothing to do with the ship itself but with how it is being portrayed. The fact that Caroline has no other purpose here but to interact with Klaus. She has no development here and her presence in Klausâ life affects nothing. The best example of this is that they spent that entire trip together but the moment shit gets real Elijah just breaks her neck to keep her out of the way becasue she has nothing to contribute. And Klaus doesnât even flinch. During his fight with Elijah Caroline is lying there with her neck broken and he doesnât seem to care because he has more important things to worry about. Because Caroline served her one and only purpose and now sheâs just discarded. They are doing this to satisfy the people who obsess over this ship regardless of logic. People who never watched TVD have no idea who Caroline is but apparently the writers could care less about that. They could care less about bringing their true relationship to light and instead they just have them briefly talk about how much Caroline doesnât regret knowing him. Where is the angst that made them so popular in the first place? You can service the fans and do a good job and include the rest of the viewers at the same time. Their relationship is an after thought and I think that both characters deserve a lot more than just last minute scenes thrown together just so they could say theyâd wrapped up their story. Itâs as if Julie Plec thought âok, this is our last season so we better do something with Klaroline and get that shit out of the way.â Like I said before, if I were a Klaroline shipper I would be offended that they think that I would settle for just about anything. Fanservice is not always a bad thing but this is just lazy.
