And, bluntly, when you know what to look for (and I very much do), it was very easy to spot that the same thing was (and maybe still is) going on within that group.

And when the instances of it were revealed right before Season 2 started, of course it wasn't acknowledged and quickly ignored by them as well. Because the majority of the people in that group are white, and this has never been about racism. It's been about them using the issue of racism as a cover for their shipper tantrums.

And hence why I said a reckoning is the least that they deserve for all of this. Because I am black. And I do not take kindly to a.) people doing any sort of blackface period, but digital blackface is even more psyop in its very nature, and b.) the fact that they used the topic of racism to try and hide that they are just pissed off about their ship, and rather successfully gaslighted a chunk of this fandom into thinking it was not about that.

Because even though, again, the majority of them are white, and had instances of digital blackface going on, they actually began all of this by primarily targeting black people in the fandom (like myself for a time), with harassment when all of this really first started back after Season 1 during the 2-year hiatus until Season 2.

If you are someone who didn't come into this fandom until Season 2 started or after, then you are very much missing a lot of history behind what is actually at the root of what is happening now. And how, quite frankly, it totally mirrors how many of these same people argued -- before Season 2 premiered -- that anyone saying that Armand was messing with Louis' mind and memories was just being racist, and that the show would never do that.

And yet, when the show very much did do that, and those of us who'd kept saying that it appeared to be where the show was going (via expanding on something similar from the first book) were proven correct, did the argument that it was racist for the show to have done it continue from them?

No, it did not. Instead, the argument switched to being that what Armand did wasn't all that bad. And that his participation in the trial was just passive, and he had little to do with Claudia's fate.

Yeah.

My saying I was going to have a stopwatch to see how long it took before someone said something out-of-pocket / had anti-blackness undertones to it when Armand's Frankenstein experiment was revealed didn't come out of nowhere or from nothing. It came from observing, for almost over 3 years now, what this fandom has done regarding a lot of these things in the past, and the pattern they've repeatedly engaged in regarding it. From that group in particular.

And look, have I seen the scene in question that everyone is talking about? No. Though I have a pretty good idea what the scene likely is and which book it is from. And, if I'm correct, then I have a pretty clear idea who says it, and why.

And yes, the character who says it a. would be black in the show and b. has actually said things in this same vein to the same character back in Season 1. Frankly, I think what was said back in Season 1 was more loaded than this appears to be, but I actually have to see the scene first and the full context of it before I make a full judgment call about it.

But frankly, that that group are the ones calling it racist? Yeah, excuse me if I think that, once again, this is just more of the same performative BS that they've been doing for years now to try to gaslight the fandom again, because what they are really mad about is just their preferred shipper preference getting torpedoed once again... along with probably some other headcanons going up in smoke as well.

This show is a whole juiced up steak with 12 entrees paired with the finest champagne and yet we treat it like it's dogfood.

I'm saying this as a black woman, twitter and TikTok have become a place for moralists who can't see black people as people, but as little bleak beige pillows.

Let's just ignore the black people in the fandom -- here, on TikTok, and even on YouTube -- who have had no real issue with it, and explained why.

Speaking of Season 1, maybe, along with those reports to the NAACP, they can also report the white fans in this fandom who were engaging in digital blackface as well. Or at least finally call them out about it all after 3 years:

This has nothing to do with defending ‘white people’ as you put it. Nor is it about fandom racism like you want to gaslight everyone into believing. This is just the latest iteration of something that has been happening since last year.

I'll give it to you though, it's a clever tactic. Everytime you get called out for your toxic behavior, you shift the blame away from YOU as an individual and from your own actions, and you make it about ALL black fans and the racism we experience in fandom spaces. It's clever because obviously no decent person would disagree with such a valid point or be seen as supporting something as heinous as racism.

And it almost worked; you managed to stir the entire fandom into an uproar and now I have white women in my inbox and on my dashboard trying to 'educate' me and other black people about what racism is, while being completely oblivious to how pathetic and condescending they sound.

How unfortunate for you then that tangible proof emerged to contradict your lies and attempts at gaslighting, and to show everyone what this issue, which has been ongoing for more than a year, is REALLY about.
