they should legalize polyamory. everywhere. and im not kidding at all. if someone wants to marry multiple people they should be allowed to. for any reason.
before anybody tries to say some bullshit about this, extending the definition of marriage to include multiple people would give members of religions forced into abusive polygamy the same rights any divorcing spouse would have without putting them at risk for being charged with bigamy. this would make it easier for people to leave abusive plural marriages.

the idea that a sufficiently intense love is enough to overcome any practical incompatibilities
the idea that you should meet your partner’s every need, and if you don’t, you’re either inadequate or they’re too needy
the idea that a sufficiently intense love should cause you to cease to be attracted to anyone else
the idea that commitment is synonymous with exclusivity
the idea that marriage and children are the only valid teleological justifications for being committed to a relationship
the idea that your insecurities are always your partner’s responsibility to tip-toe around and never your responsibility to work on
the idea that your value to a partner is directly proportional to the amount of time and energy they spend on you, and it is in zero-sum competition with everything else they value in life
the idea that being of value to a partner should always make up a large chunk of how you value yourself

That's up to you and your fwb! If polyamory is a label that's useful for you then it counts. A lot of my own experience with polyamory has started with a group of fwb, and over time more committed/long term relationships solidify. (Not that fwb has to lead to long term relationships, that's just my personal experience).
I also personally experience polyamory as an identity, as in, I am a polyamorous person even if I am not currently in a relationship or currently only in a relationship with one person, because the way I experience attraction and relationships is innately poly. The same as how a bisexual person is still bisexual no matter what gender they're currently in a relationship with. So that could also count for you if you feel it resonates with you.

I have a fuzzy memory from several years ago when I went to the Portland zoo and there was a female chimpanzee sitting near the glass wall of her enclosure looking at the people, and when I squatted down to her eye level she looked at me and blew me a kiss. Assuming I remember this accurately, what can you tell me about this behavior?

Captive and wild chimps will "blow raspberry" or "kiss" sounds when they want attention. Often, it's an invitation to please groom me. Other times, chimps in captivity have learned humans respond to this and will just do this buzzing sound for positive attention. Chimps have made this sound at me when I have something they want, too.
Hmm, no, it was mainly the hand gesture of blowing a kiss - touching the tips of her fingers to her lips with an open/mostly open palm then extending that hand towards me while making a lip movement similar to blowing a kiss. There wasn't any sound that I noticed, but I don't think a raspberry sound like the one in the video would have been audible to me through the glass of her enclosure so it's possible she was making that sound and I couldn't hear it.

more than the ridiculousness of assuming a video is fake for no provided or obvious reason, you really can’t see the benefit in showing the other young, inexperienced and impressionable people of tiktok a way of getting someone out of an uncomfortable and potentially dangerous situation? even if it was fake, what would the harm here be? kind of just seems like you’re looking for reasons to be weirdly critical
Okay this is from that TikTok of the girl rescuing another girl being harassed... I didn't list a reason because the person above me gave a reason and I didn't feel the need to repeat.
The person above me said:
"the fact she addresses the audience with a 'okay guys I don't normally film these types of videos' seems off to me, like her audience was first thing in her mind. Also we never really see the guy in the video, like why did she point the camera at herself instead of filming the dude which could have been used for evidence if something escalated?"
I think the fact she doesn't film the man is especially strange, what is the point of filming if not to record his behavior? Why would you use a self facing camera in this sort of situation? There have been times when I thought I might need to film a police officer to hold them accountable and I never once thought "I should film myself so that I can share it with my TikTok followers."
That said, I commented that it was "faked at best." You're right, if it's actually faked it's not that big a deal. I worry it would encourage people to film a real dangerous situation in this way and post it for views. But other than that concern, it's not that harmful, and can potentially be an educational resource like you say.
What I said in my comment is that the real concern is that it IS real, and that she is using an actual dangerous situation just for the sake of her TikTok popularity. I believe that that is harmful, dangerous, and self centered. Her focus should be on protecting herself and the woman in danger, not her views on social media.
My comment was made in good faith, I was not simply trying to be "weirdly critical" for no reason, and I don't think you should assume that of me.

Noticed your comment on a goldfish post: Generally 20 gallons per fancy goldfish and 30-40 gallons per single-tailed goldfish is the guideline. With bigger tanks and ponds there's more wiggle room, but really anything smaller than that is going to be actively harmful to the fish in some way or another. Hope that helps!

and multiple times they (so many cishets) referred to “coming out” as polyam.

No, polyamory is not the norm. No, polyamory is not broadly accepted. No, your parents probably won’t approve of you being polyamorous.
But stop fucking appropriating the terminology of LGBT+ people.
Now before I get a million hate messages, let me remind you, this is my family:
That’s me, in the wheelchair. That’s my beautiful child with the dark blonde hair. And those are my two (count them, two) committed partners who I live with.
I came out as bisexual.
I came out as nonbinary.
I announced that I was polyamorous.
Lifestyle choices are not the same as inherent identities. You do not “come out” as a gamer. No one “outs you” as a student. There is no “closet” to hide in as a vegan.Â
Might some of these things cause you backlash? Of-fucking-course. But that doesn’t mean you equate them to marginalized identities.
Polyamory might be a lifestyle choice for some people, but it isn’t for everyone. For me it’s an identity and absolutely not something I can change about myself.
And polyamory is also absolutely a marginalized identity, we can lose our jobs for it, be prevented from adopting children, lose child custody, hell we can’t even get married legally. I’ve faced more negative responses for being polyam than I ever have for being pansexual.
I’m not saying they’re the same and I wouldn’t necessarily say polyamory belongs in the LGBTQIA+ acronym but it’s definitely a marginalized identity and it’s not “just a lifestyle choice” for everyone. I think the phrase “coming out of the closet” is appropriate for polyamory and there isn’t anything wrong with saying it.
