About the AU
Dark Days is an adaptation of Sonic Unleashed, set on Earth in the Sonic Cinematic Universe. Its core story is that of the original game, but heavily expanded and further developed, and shown in a more serious light. The Werehog is depicted as a thematic manifestation of Sonic's "inner darkness", not as a monster but as everything beneath the surface, kept hidden from everyoneāeven himself.

Just realized I completely forgot to post these, here's a quick update on the Movie!Werehog model
Starting off with, the quills. I figured out how to use geometry nodes to generate them from curves, then place a premade texture on them for the white markings. I still need to tweak the texture mapping as well as the underlying spike modeling, but this is almost exactly what I had in mind. I might make the banded section wider though.
(Zoom in, there's little white rings sort of like those on actual hedgehog quills)
I also replaced the iris texture with a high-res one. For context, the original one was grabbed from that one Home Alone parody poster. It worked well enough as a placeholder, but it was definitely a bit crusty.
Wondering if I should give him darker limbal rings to make them stand out more, or just make his eyes as close to canon as possible.
Oh, and I also figured out how to blend materials together using vertex-based masks. I could probably make a more precise one using a texture, but I haven't properly unwrapped the model yet, so until then I can't really do any texture painting.
I'll probably go in and do some proper texturing for the eyelid edges and caruncula (inner corner) at some point.

"But I don't like it!" There's plenty of things in the world and not all of them are fun or enjoyable or For You. This applies to everyone and we all have to deal with that in a mature fashion.
"But I want to do the thing!" You can't always do what you want. Most people learn this in preschool. Wanting something does not entitle you to be inconsiderate to the people around you.

Fun fact, those puppies technically shouldn't exist.
So in-universe, lycans aren't supposed to change until at least 10, usually 12, due to it being too dangerous to shift until then. It'd put too much stress on their body if they're any younger.
(Same rules apply to turned lycans, if someone somehow got turned at a really young age nothing would actually happen until they're older)
"Wolf-born" lycans are possible, but only happen if something went very wrong. It's basically the supernatural equivalent of a birth defect. In those cases, they're permanently stuck in wolf form until 10-12, when it's finally safe for them to change.
Once that happens, they're just a normal lycan who's only a wolf on the three nights of a full moon, for better or worse. It's usually a relief for those around them, but for the lycan themselves, being locked out of a form they've lived their whole life as can often be devastating.

Meant to be writing my fanfic but was suddenly writing this instead. the sheer amount of instances of "we need to teach Sonic how to swim" I come across is simply overwhelming. Nothing against them if you used it in a fic or otherwise, I probably read it and liked the story a lot, but personally I don't really think it's all that romantic go from "I'm kinda scared, everyone's nagging me" to "I'll teach you". As someone with at least one irrational phobia I'd instead really appreciate someone who would go out of their way not to trigger it.

Now, though, heās been shown the ātruthā about why Shadow or anyone else accepted him in the first place. To use him. Manipulate him. And when the time came? Kill him. So how foolish of Eclipse, to think he should do anything other than he was made for! This time, he will kill Shadow, and avenge his kind, even if it takes the help of the only mortal he trusts to do it. When and why did he begin to trust him? Didnāt he hate Starline beforeā¦? Doesnāt matter anymore. Eclipse will do anything to fulfill his intended purpose. Anything.
Shadow, on the other hand, is being forced to come to terms with all the things heād tried to push away for the longest time after Eclipse goes missing. The truce made between him and Eclipse (with the help of Sonic, annoyingly) was messy, but whether Shadow wanted to admit it or not, it led to a bond later down the line. It led to Shadowā¦caring about that little alien. Genuinely. Even nowadays he can feel conflicted about that part, given all that happened in the past, everything with the black armsā¦and if thereās something Shadow is NOT good at, itās being open about anything. The roles are reversed after Eclipseās rescue, with Shadow (in his own special Shadow way) attempting to bring back a bond that currently doesnāt exist, and Eclipse wanting nothing more than his ābrotherā to face his downfall. Even the dark arms arenāt too fond of Shadow right now. And though he feels Eclipse has every right to hate him, Shadow is determined to put Starlineās influence over this whole situation to an end. The question remains: how?

The Chaos Emeralds, seven legendary gems of ultimate power, are drained and left uselessāand Sonic is left with a transformative affliction.
Now when the sun goes down, a darker and wilder side of Sonic is unleashed. It's bigger, tougher, furrierāand dangerous. Between Sonic and this beast he's become, the difference is night and day.
As Sonic struggles to come to terms with the "condition" he now has, everything around him seems to be getting shakierāliterally. With the strange tremors around the world getting worse, it becomes clear that something dark has been awakened. And if the Chaos Emeralds aren't restored soon, there could be world-shattering consequences.
