These are some fantasy based snacks for dragonkin (or just for fun!) to try and satisfy some cravings you might get! I think it’s a pretty universal experience as otherkin to want to eat things you really shouldn’t. I’m hoping to make this into a little series

SEAGLASS CANDY - this is hard yet crunchable candy that looks and has the sound and texture of seaglass, but could also be a good gemstone substitute! You can make it fairly easily from finding a recipe online, and it can be whatever colour and flavour you want.

EDIBLE CHALK - this one doesn’t taste great but can be dyed to look exactly like granite, or just plain white. I’m pretty sure it’s made of some kind of calcium so you might not want to eat too much of it, but it really nails the rock texture

WHITE CANDY STICKS - similar to the chalk one (these used to be called cigarette candy but have since been renamed) but these taste a whole lot better and are pretty easy to get. Not as good of a replica of granite or rocks, but they have basically the same texture and crunch.

POPPING CANDY - look like little gemstones and could feel like the sensation of fire. This is also really fun to make vocals over! This can be found in most shops or online.

CANDYFLOSS - looks like clouds (looking at you, that one character from angelmouse) , pretty self explanatory one. Can be found at fairgrounds or online!

I wanted to talk about why I think shifts happen, and my thoughts about them :”0

I think shifts happen for me when my mind reverts to certain feelings or sensations (or for mental shifts, reactions) that I would have had when I was my theriotype - I believe that I was my theriotype in a past life. Sometimes, it’s little things like dejavu, but other times it can be bigger things like phantom shifts.

Using my own theory, I guess shifts are basically memories of some kind :”0 shifts can also be for psychological reasons as well!

I’m doing this thing again, haha. This is for those that are skeptical of therianthropy, or just have questions about it!

I’m a therian myself, and I’ll try my best to answer any questions that you have for me, or for the community.

Personally, I like to make sure my tails are always looking nice when I wear them, and this means they require a bit of upkeep. Here’s some stuff I do to keep them looking good!

Cleaning tails

you can never get a real tail wet down to the leather, as it’ll cause it to dry out and snap when bent :,) tails don’t get dirty often, but when they do, it’s best to just wipe the dirty area with a wet wipe, or something gentle like that. Harsh soaps can strip the tail of any natural oils (these keep the tail looking shiny and mean it’s able to shed off things like rain and snow) and they’re hard to get off without using water.

Brushing tails

I use a normal hairbrush to brush my tails - it keeps the fur soft, and stops it from matting when you wear it. The brushes you’d want to avoid using are harsh pet ones that are designed to strip the undercoat, as this could cause excessive fur loss in your tail :,) When brushing your tail, you want to make sure you’re getting the undercoat too, as this is the area that’s most likely to get matted. I recommend brushing them after you wear them!

To try and prevent your tail from breaking, it’s nice to have a little reinforcement in the tail. Some tails come with a little grommet/eyelet where the ball chain is, but if yours doesn’t have this, it’s fairly easy to do yourself. I know some people go the extra mile and put a strip of fabric down the length of the leather, and this means the tail will be stronger, and less likely to break at all.

Unless your tail has been dyed, the leather should be a light yellow, cream or beige in colour and it should not smell. If it does smell, and is discoloured, this can mean your tail has begun to rot. This can occur from a bad tan or a tail being left in moist conditions. When the tail begins to rot, it becomes very prone to breakage. Running a strip of fabric down the tail and glueing (sewing will cause the tail to break apart more than it might be doing already) it to the bits of leather. That can help it last a bit longer, but if it is rotting I wouldn’t recommend wearing it :,)

therianthropy is a belief to me - there’s no way that I can prove it to somebody, just like I can’t prove that souls exist, but that doesn’t stop me from believing in it. It’s something very personal to me, and I don’t see the point in arguing with somebody about it, and insisting that it’s fact. Sure, I’ll correct somebody if they’ve got incorrect assumptions about it, but I’d never bother trying to prove it, it’s not worth it.

I don’t actually have an awakening story! There was no one moment that I realised I had an identity that wasn’t human. I’ve felt like this for my entire life, and when I found the definition of therianthropy, it meant that I had a community of people like me and a definition to describe myself by. I’ve always been a therian, but there was no one set moment that I realised that I was. I’ve just always known, in a way :”0

Your thereotype’s colours and such aren’t always important. While it’s nice to know, sometimes, it’s not something you need to worry about! It can be really stressful when you’re constantly trying to find out. It’s not that important, and you don’t need to be too focused on it.

Wolves cannot have any variation of blue eyes once they have passed puphood. Wolf hybrids, huskies, and other dogs can, however!

Unnatural colours such as neons and the ones that I have shown here do not occur either, and apart from blue, I don’t believe any other colour occurs in other canines either :”0

While meditation can be extremely useful, I’ve seen a lot of misinformation about it in this community, and I wanted to address it.

Firstly, I’d like to talk about what meditation is used for and what it can do. Meditation clears your mind, it makes it easier to focus on things without intrusive thoughts and feelings in the way - it can help you calm down, and find ways to better deal with things. For use in finding your theriotype, it’s good for clearing your mind, helping you focus on shifts, and possibly be in a better state to experience them (although I’m not sure - please don’t quote me on that, haha)

During meditation, you cannot “see” your theriotype. What I see people saying a lot of the time is that during meditation, they can see their theriotype and it speaks to them, etc etc. This is not what meditation is, or what it can be used for.

For those that do use meditation, I have a few things and sites I would recommend! I’m no expert, though, so please don’t take my word over others :,)

Don’t worry if you don’t find meditating easy. It takes a while to get used to, and trust me, sitting there uncomfortably for half an hour isn’t going to get you anywhere :”0 to be able to get the hang of it and make the most of it, begin with short, guided meditations (I recommend and use headspace!) regularly, and slowly build up the time you spend doing it. Don’t worry if you miss a day, or it isn’t working for you - it’s not worth stressing over :,)

Hi! Personally, I think it depends on what school you go to - if everyone there is super accepting and it isn’t violating the dress code, I don’t see an issue. However, if you are wearing it, you must understand that you’re putting yourself in a position where you can be made fun of.

I choose to keep therianthropy private, school wise. It’s something that’s very personal to me, hence why I wouldn’t want people making fun of it. If you’re wearing a tail, lots of people might not understand why, and react negatively to it - I’ve even heard stories where said tail has been pulled.

There are better places to wear a tail than school :,) it might also be a little distracting for you, which wouldn’t be good. But, if you feel as though you won’t be made fun of in school and it won’t affect your learning, then go for it!

This is less of a question and more of a statement, but hey, I’ll do my best to give you my input on it, haha.

I actually hadn’t heard of this until now, thank you! The term “therian” originally started being used for the comminity back in 1993, on the site ‘alt horror : werewolves’ (don’t quote me on that, though, as I’m not completley sure) and it probably did have something to do with this original definition. Maybe a better word to describe us would be “alterhuman” but that could suggest that we believe we are something other than human, which we do not.

As for the “long debunked and delusional trappings” part, I want to bring up what I actually believe in, and see how different it actually is from other beleifs (although if you believe they are also long debunked and dilusional, then there isn’t much point and you can just scroll on by, haha)

This isn’t the same for all therians, but as the question (well, sort of) was aimed at me, I’ll answer it from my point of view. I believe in reincarnation, and that I was my theriotype/s in a past life, and that as a human, I feel as though they are still a part of me and I identify as it, if that makes sense. The key word there is ‘believe’ - I do not think that it is fact, and I cannot prove it to you, but it is just what I believe in, as some people believe in gods, or in other things.
