Rereading pjo as an adult, I came away with a few conclusions, but one of the most important is that Percy is not book smart but he is very street smart

The boy can improvise a battle strategy on the fly like its nothing, tackling enemies he's never fought before and winning against them, even if he can't remember how Hercules or whoever beat it the first time

Meanwhile Annabeth is literally his perfect foil. yes she's an incredible strategist when given time and resources to study her opponents, but BOTL alone perfectly showcases the difference between how these two think

When faced with a man-eating spinx who quizzes heroes on basic trivia, rather than giving them riddles, Percy is stoked Annabeth knows all the answers, and mentally encourages her to just answer the questions so they can move on. What does Annabeth do?

Refuses to answer because trivia is "beneath her". Dam the consequences, she will not be talked down to. And Percy isn't even mad about this - he's impressed she stuck to her principles!

TLDR: Annabeth is dumb sometimes too, but that's okay we love our Wise Girl and Seaweed Brain
