Nothing explicit, just a long post. Story and art under cut.
One foot in front of the other is all that was racing through Leon's head as he ran, lungs burning in the late November air. The loud thumping behind him a reminder that if he stopped, he'd be torn to shreds.
No silver bullets or Wolfsbane in reach, his only option was to keep running, praying he'd run into another team member before his body failed him.
The corridor turned sharply, now lined by ceiling to floor glass windows on one side, numerous heavy set wooden doors on the other. The wolf behind him took the corner less gracefully, smashing into the glass, shaking off the shards and continuing its pursuit.
His moment of hope distracted him and his foot slid on the polished wood flooring. His right hand hit the ground hard as he tried to correct himself, the sting shooting up his forearm.
He had hoped the creature would go straight through the glass and tumbled the 3 floors to the concrete courtyard below.
Stupid.
He was never that lucky.
A thundering roar echoed down the corridor towards him and he focused forward. Another wolf, dark brown, rolled into view grappling with a Hellbeast. Leon felt his heart sink.
If he stopped running, the wolf behind him would catch him and shred him.
If he kept running, maybe he could dodge past the fighting beasts in front of him.
Lighting cracked outside, illuminating the corridor briefly, but that was all Leon needed.
He recognised the wolf snapping at the Hellbeast.
Determined, he pushed forward.
"Chris!"
The brown wolf turned his attention down the corridor towards Leon for a brief moment before turning back the to Hellbeast. The distraction of sound just enough for him to catch the hound off guard and rip into its throat.
Chris shoved the hound off himself and rose to all fours, hackles raised, mouth snarling open in clear warning.
For a moment Leon wondered if he'd made the right call. Chris was all wolf at the moment. No evidence of cognizant thought or recognition.
It was now or never.
Leon dropped, sliding under Chris and looking back at the grey wolf that had been chasing him. He felt, more than saw, Chris brace and then lunge at the other wolf, smashing into it and taking a large bite out of its shoulder.
It took less than a second for the grey wolf to react and kick Chris off, launching him back towards Leon.
"Chris?" Leon wavered, not sure if he should call out or back up further.
Chris looked back at him, warm brown eyes searching Leon. Movement directed Leon's attention back to the grey wolf. It had gotten back up and was gearing up for an attack.
"Look out!" Leon shouted.
Chris turned in time for the grey wolf to take a swipe at him. Reflexes quick, the creature only managed to swipe at his shoulder before he returned the attempt with a blow of his own, sending the grey wolf skidding backwards a foot.
If you asked Leon what happened next, he'd say it was equally the most terrifying and coolest thing he'd seen. Not that he would ever admit to that, not within earshot of Chris.
Chris treated the grey wolf like a punching bag. A swipe at Chris's hind resulted in the grey wolf having its ear torn off. An attempt at Chris's throat resulted in the crunching sound of the grey wolf's hind leg being broken in Chris's jaw.
It was then that Leon noticed the grey wolf was about half the size of Chris.
The grey wolf didn't have the advantage of being as small as the Hellbeast had been. It was easier to land a hit and was showing signs of fatigue. Leon briefly wondered if the human that had once been, had been malnourished or sickly.
He didn't get to wonder long. A loud cracking sound and Chris's jaw closed around the grey wolf's head, crushing its skull. It went limp and ceased moving.
Ah shit.
Leon didn't move, breath held in anticipation.
He was definitely too close to make a run for it. And if he was barely able to outrun the grey wolf, there was no way he was outrunning Chris.
Chris turned his gaze back to Leon, weary, his tail which had previously been held low, now almost tucking.
It didn't go unnoticed.
Later, when they were miles away from the fight and safe, Leon would remember this moment and smile.
"Hey Pup," he whispered.
Chris's ears pricked forward and he took a step closer.
Every instinct in Leon's body was screaming to run. He'd been in this fight too long. Werewolves, Vampires, Hellbeasts, all of it. His body had been honed to the danger they possessed.
Leon ignored it. Chris needed his help. The Head Church Leader for their region had surely got wind of the attack by now. Time was something they didn't have on their side.
And if they found Chris, he'd be shot dead without a chance for Leon to vouch for him.
Leon took a step forward, reaching out his hand.
An open display of the trust he'd felt slowly building over the last few months for Chris.
"I see you."
Chris put his giant head in Leon's palm and huffed a small whine, the brown in his eyes almost swallowed by the pupil.
Leon dropped to his knee and pulled Chris in closer.
"I've got you Pup. Let's get out of here."
Note: I got the idea from a screenshot (?) i saw from one of the Avatar movies? idk which one, I've only ever seen the first one.
This scene would be set on the night of Wesker's betrayal. Maybe he let in the Supernatural beings to take over the clergy/team. idk what Wesker's motivation would be to do that, maybe hoping to get rid of the members he thinks would get in the way of what he wants (Chris and Jill trust him bout as far as they can throw him) and maybe complete his plan on turning Leon? I headcannon that Chris was turned on a mission Leon was supposed to take, but Leon convince Wesker to let the new members prove themselves.
Hope ya'll enjoy. I'm OBSESSED with the Supernatural Hunters AU.
I'd love to work more in this AU, but not sure where to go next.
