I want to believe in the mercy of the World again

I'm floating a few inches above the ground, looking up into nothing but nearly dark sky. I think of you, yes you, and me and her and we.

Sometimes I feel the old feelings or notice the fact that they're gone and I miss them. Other times I look back at what truly happened and am so glad it's over. The thing I wish was over but isn't is the constantly feeling that the moment I'm in is the last block of cement in my sidewalk. I'm always feeling like I'm standing at the edge of a cliff. And it's supposed to be okay.

But I remember you even as I never knew you very well. The space we shared was likely one I should have never been in but it certainly didn't feel that way. Make of that what you will.
