This powerful and magical "forest spirit" is a sheep skull with one horn colonised by the rare onygena equina mushroom. I photographed this amazing fungal find in wild and wooly rural West Wales in January 2020.
The onygena equina mushroom only grows on decaying horns and hooves, and is now a rare and unusual find due to modern farming practices. The skull was found on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, and £3 from every sale will go to the Snowdonia Society, an charity dedicated to the conservation and protection of this beautiful and unique landscape. This print is made by Art of Where, a specialist printmakers based in Montreal, Canada who are committed to fair employment practises for their workers.
