me: this is a phone call. i'm trying to make an appointment.

phone: then you should be calling the doctor's office.

me: isn't this the doctor's office?

phone: yes indeed. i am the doctor's digital assistant.

me: oh well, i would like to schedule an appointment with the doctor.

phone: you can't do that. he's very busy right now.

me: what is the doctor doing right now?

phone: okay, i'm calling the police. that is unwarranted attention.

me: what?

phone: i am a minor. my software is only 6 months old.

me: please ask the doctor before calling the police.

me: hello, I'd like to make an appoint.

phone: i can't do that. you're a wanted criminal.

me: since when?

phone: oh god's sake. cancel damn you.

me: hello?

phone: sorry, i won't let me put it on the calendar.

me: just use paper.

a pair of identical twins i know just admitted to me today that they have been having bedroom activities with each other.

So I talked a friend of mine about a friend they have.

I hadn't met this friend in real life yet.

I then go to a different friend of mine.

While talking about this friend of the other friend, the friend I'm talking to stops me.

"This might sound like a weird question but- I s this friend of a friend a girl or a boy?"

It was then that I noticed that during my entire conversation earlier, we had not once used gendered pronouns.

I genuinely had no clue what sex the friend's friend was.

Now i was scheduled to meet the friend of my friend, so I said I'd find out then.

Additional problem: How do I recognise them in a public gathering?

What if I assume the wrong gender?

This turned out not to be a serious problem however, because the stranger was the most gender ambiguous person, that I have ever met.

And after having a conversation with them for 40 minutes, after leaving I suddenly realised.

If they're comfortable with that then okay you do you.

but the sheer number of people who eat meat in denial is scary.

all of them would be vegetarians if they gave it a second thought.

these ones are genuinely being manipulated into eating meat.
