there’s a whole controversy on ichiros seiyuu, subaru kimura, who did blackface. support the character not the seiyuu. Oh yeah, it was also recent.

He didn’t even apologize. He just started blocking people which is DISGUSTING and DISGRACEFUL.

I am super disappointed, as he is used for hypmic promos and such. It is a huge loss for European representation in Japanese anime, as he is half Japanese and half German. This happened very recently.

Remember do not confuse this as me saying “oh since ichiros seiyuu did blackface therefore ichiro has” no that is absolutely not what I am trying to say here. You can still support the character but not the seiyuu.

These were posted to his Instagram. You can clearly see him first of all, mocking lip plates and second of all, in full black face. This is disgusting and absolutely unacceptable. This is cultural appropriation. Absolutely unacceptable.

He has deleted the posts without apologizing.

Not only does he voice ichiro, he also voices tendo from haikyuu, and a character in ŹOOĻ. Until he apologizes and his apology is accepted by the black community, I have no intent to forgive him for his disgusting behaviour.

As an Asian myself, I understand that in Asian culture, they may not understand that doing blackface is racist and don’t take it seriously, HOWEVER, he has been blocking people who are trying to educate him. Even if he didn’t know at first, right now he is deliberately being ignorant. His behaviour is completely disgusting and he is purposefully being IGNORANT.

I do not stand for this and I will never tolerate racists, no matter how deep into a certain fandom I am, and I hope you also don’t tolerate his disturbing behaviour as well.

If you still stand by him, unfollow me, block me for all I care, I don’t give a shit. I will not tolerate racist, disgusting, and straight up ignorant behaviour.
