cosplaying as an im5 tumblr acc from 2013 to feel something
The amount of hate Stancy and their shippers get is honestly ridiculous.
You don’t have to ship them, but acting like there’s something wrong with shipping Steve and Nancy makes no sense.
They broke up for a reason. Nancy wasn’t ready to be with Steve anymore in the early seasons, they had grown apart after and that’s okay. But by Season 4, they became completely different people. They’ve both grown, matured, and naturally found their way back into each other’s lives.
And Steve never got over Nancy.
What exactly is wrong with that?
People don’t choose their feelings. Him still loving her isn’t toxic, it’s human.
Nancy never hated Steve either, so the idea that she never cared about him is just strange??? The way she looks at him in Season 4 says enough. Endgame or not, they’re clearly still incredibly important to each other.
What I don’t understand is why Stancy gets treated like some horrible ship when there are ships in this fandom with far more questionable foundations that people romanticize all the time.
At the end of the day, it’s a fictional show about monsters and y’all say it’s dumb cause Stancy shippers exist?? Let people ship what the f*** they want and stop acting like liking Stancy is some kind of moral failing, jfc.
True love at its finest.....
omg heartbroken steve is back😭 he’s never moving on from nancy i fear . from the tales of 85 trailer

yes charlie speak on it king. what's up with everyone airing out stancy laundry on the fallon show this week LOL.
the title of the video is literally "charlie is team steve"
+ bonus from 2018 when he said he's team steve
One wonders if the reason so many younger people (or tbf, people across the age spectrum) prefer jancy more is because-in our current historical context-a prevailing sense of cynicism is reflected in so many viewers world outlooks? It's maybe why some struggle to see the appeal of stancy and the lightness that comes with it; the conversations of hope for their futures and what they want out of life. Because cynicism is conflated with intelligence in American culture (especially this weird misanthropic detachment), it's as if there is this belief that only relationships that bloom in the night are "deeper" or "more real" because it's something darker, and many younger people have internalized the idea that you must endure the pain to make it to the end of the race (apply that to the world many kids are growing up in-one that has authority figures telling them that there isn't anything that can be done to save their dying world, that they should just give up because what is the point of fighting if none of it matters?)
Many connect with Jonathan because they look at him as a realist, that his beliefs about people and society at large are true because he speaks to the pessimism that is seeping into all of us under the rise of authoritarianism and fascism ("the real world sucks; accept it like the rest of us"). Yet, in their fears and lack of hope, they are unable to look outside of their black-and-white worldviews. Jonathan isn't evil, and just because people like him doesn't mean they are either. Jonathan's crime is that his softness and kindness get smothered by his growing sense of pessimism, his belief that things won't get better, and I think that speaks to younger people, consciously or not, who are in such despair over the state of the world; who don't know how to hope for things to get better because they have been burned so many times, and they are too young to know it gets better.
It's a working theory, of course, and I think there is a lot of variables to explore, but it's a thought, nonetheless.

I feel like jancy is only popular because Natalia Dyer and Charlie Heaton are dating in real life. Seriously if you point out a flaw in the Jancy ship that is the first argument Jancy fans will make take away that relationship and Jancy will be seen for what it is a very toxic relationship that never should have happened to begin with. Or maybe that's just me.

notes: holy smokes I can't believe I fired out 27 images in procreate over this holiday weekend. I have completed my goal of sharing a returned sweater headcanon with you, I hope it resonates. <3
next week I plan to do some shorter, one-off pieces to progress these two along but in the meantime, thank you so much for your engagement. I'd love to know if there's a favorite pic or moment that stood out to you!

I was just scrolling around on youtube and came across the first person i’ve seen on YT actually discuss Nancy/Stancys assination in depth!!
I really suggest watching this! She makes soo many great points that we’ve all been discussing. It’s SO satisfying to see other people outside of this little globe on tumblr discuss this!
So, just to be clear...
We're all in agreement that Nancy was supposed to admit she has feelings for Steve during the break-up scene, right?
Because the whole lead up is about how they're not being honest with each other, which is shown pretty clearly at the end of season four when they're boarding up the cabin.
Jonathan's big confession is obviously that he never applied to Emerson. He's been lying to her for months because even though he knows the relationship has run its course, he hasn't wanted to admit it. This is a big thing to admit, so Nancy needs a big confession to match. Which ends up being that she could have visited him during spring break but chose not to because she felt suffocated and needed space. After six months apart. Okay. Doesn't make a lot of sense and the two confessions really aren't on the same level, but okay.
The issue is that season four tells us that this isn't even true. Nancy tells Robin that Jonathan was supposed to visit her and cancelled at the last minute, and that this is just the latest example of his pulling away from her. She doesn't know what's going on with him, but she's upset about it. She also tells Fred that she's annoyed by Jonathan's absence. So basically, in what is supposed to be a big moment of honesty, we have Nancy taking responsibility for Jonathan's poor behaviour in order to share the blame around more evenly and make Jonathan look like less of a terrible boyfriend. This kind of writing only makes sense if they originally intended for Nancy to confess something else and then changed it.
And obviously as a Stancy shipper, this change is frustrating. But also just as a fan of Nancy's character in general. Her budding friendship with Robin was one of the highlights of season four, and Nancy's opening up about her relationship issues was the turning point that cemented them as officially friends. Now it seems as though Nancy wasn't even being truthful with Robin in this scene, which completely undermines the importance of it.
Anyway, just another in my long list of complaints about the character assassination that was season five. Seriously thinking about doing a full rewrite of it just so there's a pay-off to my emotional investment.
