growing up is understanding that the people who had model trains in their basements were living life to the fullest

remember how there was hannigram in squid games
well Lee Byung-hunās weird mirror parallel with Hannibal grows exponentially with this one
some relatable SpongeBob traits that I find really endearing and sweet:
- He is very prone to dramatics and crying, he takes things to heart. On the flip side, heās very joyful and celebrates mundane things often.
- Heās quick to take the blame and always does his best to apologize and confess, e.g. ālosingā the rubber boots and running to krabs crying
- He has very simple routines and he finds a lot of joy and comfort in them.
- He thinks the world of people (e.g. squidward, krabs) and always gives people the benefit of the doubt (albeit maybe to his detriment)
- tends to show his excitement in ways that people might find annoying and childish
some squidward traits I love:
- old soul, heās very weird and artsy and sticks out in the small town of bikini bottom but heās nevertheless passionate about his esoteric interests
- flamboyant, I love that he wears a little flower nighty to bed. I could fully see him dressing in one of those ruffled nightgowns
- diva tendencies, the moment he gets a tiny bit of attention and praise he lets it get to his head. Just the sheer dramatics of it all
- he has trouble showing affection, and hides behind his dramatic, artsy persona. He is playing a character, and itās hard to step out of it for moments of genuineness and vulnerability ā a sharp contrast to SpongeBob, who is ALWAYS earnest and genuine. When he does let his walls down, itās always very sweet.
MY CAR GOT TOTALED!!
Last month a semi-truck backed into my car and completely wrecked it. She's an old lady and isn't worth a whole lot, so even though insurance is handling it I'm going to have to eat most of the cost myself. To soften the blow a little bit I'm opening donations and commissions will be open down the line as well! If you guys could share this around (š¦ + š¦), it would mean the world to me. I love you š¤

slowly inching closer to being a functional human being
Turns out I most likely have Hashimotoās and Iām very hopeful medicine will make me feel normal again. I think the hardest part may have been just putting a name to it, but Iām lucky I have a doctor who actually listened to me. I have been dealing with this for years now and it makes me sad Iāve lost so much time to sleeping and feeling sick. I hope I can draw and do things again soon. Iām also hopeful that it will help with the OCD, as it seems thyroid issues and OCD are closely related.
Truly, I donāt know how I functioned at all for this long. I actually lied and told my doctor the symptoms had come on in the past year or so and she seemed shocked I was dealing with it for that long. In truth, Iāve been dealing with it for about ~7 years now.
Anyway, just a random update into the void. I ought to buy a journal again soon, but feeling terribly tired all the time makes it hard for me to keep up with it. Writing a throwaway tumblr post is like yelling into a well and walking away ā very cathartic. Granted, there might be a creature listening down at the bottom of the well and they might say something back, but at the end of the day itās a creature that lives in a well.
āwow i relate to SpongeBob so much but i definitely donāt have autismā
āanyways yeah SpongeBob is autisticā
āoh butā
coming out of the SpongeBob movie with such intense cuteness aggression that I ran to the concessions to buy the stupid little shoulder rider plush
youāre MY 30+ year old bubble blowing baby boy now
Iāll just drop my review + thoughts because this is my blog and I am unhealthily obsessed with SpongeBob:
The plot was nothing to write home about, it just feels like an extra long SpongeBob episode and doesnāt really offer much in terms of character development. Even so, it was a GOOD episode of SpongeBob, I was entertained the whole time.
Of course it also gave me such intense cuteness aggression every time SpongeBob came on screen so I might be a little biased ā I love you little Bob⦠The animators did such a good job being playful with the expressions and really pushing the animation in terms of cartooniness.
Also love how mean gay they made Squidward in this one, love Barb as the antagonist sidekick, and the art direction in this movie is genuinely gorgeous. Some of the shots (especially in the krabs swashbuckling flashback) were absolutely beautiful in composition and color. The creature designs were also super creative, love the little nods to the Greek underworld.
I had a very good time, love that little bubble blowing 30+ year old baby boy.
My only gripe is them undoing the character growth SpongeBob has done in terms of feeling āadultā enough in service of the plot. He already had an entire movie dedicated to feeling adult enough, but this movie was silly enough that I gave it a pass. I guess you could consider it as retreading the same ground from a different angle, as it gave some insight into Mr. Krabs and his past, as well as his relationship with SpongeBob as a fatherly figure.
Iām glad that the lesson remained the same though. Part of what makes me like SpongeBob so much is that heās unapologetically silly and childish and loving and emotional and sweet. Iām happy that they made it very clear that it was good that he was that way, and that people loved him for being himself.
I also just am consistently blown away by the animatorsā work on these movies. I know SpongeBob has been going on for some time now, and it would be easy to phone it in, but even when the plots arenāt the strongest the animation is always so incredibly beautiful in every movie. This one was no exception, thereās some beautiful sequences and art that I almost wished I could pause/rewind and look at for longer.

Feeling very metropolitan because I got a part-time job at the movies for some extra money.
I got to see the area where the projectionists sit and it was the most liminal area Iāve ever been in, just a long, dimly-lit hallway with black, glittering tiles and numbered alcoves denoting each auditorium with flickering lights in each hollow.
I took a peek and looked down at all of the seats; it was very easy to see each individual seat from above. A very good place to people-watch, I think. That said, each station was unmanned, which eased my mind a bit about being watched while I watch⦠movies.
Our theater is still decorated in the pastiche of the 90s. The carpet is blackened from the throngs of people that pass by, but the eclectic design that peeks through is a nice place to let my eyes rest during downtime at concessions.
Bits and pieces of the theater are falling apart. On my first day, a giant splinter of wood cut someoneās hand. The seats donāt recline. The floor has been inexplicably torn up (āfor repairsā) in a section of concessions. Even so, itās not too bad. We get free movies, popcorn, icees. I pretend Iām a character in a movie while I take peopleās orders.
Many of them are just people seeking some form of human interaction, positive or negative. I can see myself becoming one of them one day. I read somewhere that the greatest dignity you can bestow on another person is to treat them as someone with complexity ā so I greet them with a smile and talk to them like the humans that they are.
