In my headcanon, Vox was born "Vincent Hollander", youngest of 3 to a wealthy car salesman and his beautiful wife in Detroit, Michigan. Vincent disowned his family at 18 after his mother's death, starting his life over from scratch, and taking his mother's maiden name "Whittman" to solidify his severance from his father.

This AU is something my friends and I cooked up and I am currently obsessed with it. It's inspired by the Amplified Afterlife AU on youtube (wherein Vox and Charlie meet immediately after Alastor rejects him, and they have been friends for about 70ish years since.) The difference with our AU comes with the fact that Vincent still becomes "Vox The Media Overlord," but Charlie is unaware because *she* had been gone for 7 years when he grew into power... Then she came back and asked him to help with her hotel, and obviously he couldn't say no to her... but she can't know he got worse in her time away...

{ CHAPTER ONE EXCERPT } You sigh. “I’ll see if they’ll let you sit in,” you say. “If they do, you’ll need someone to take notes anyway.” Something flickers across his face. For the first time, his smile looks genuine — quick and bright, almost boyish. “Then I suppose I owe you one,” he says. You’re not sure you want to be owed anything by a man like Vincent Whittman.

I absolutely adore this fic. It's technically a reader insert, but I made the main female character have a specific look to her because that's just how I imagined her looking when I read it. I wanted to draw the scene where Vincent and "Remora" first meet., so here it is lmfao.

I am so normal™ about this fic.......
