Even more Kanan and Ezra headcanons
After a nightmare, Ezra doesn’t wake up calling for help, he wakes up quiet. That silence is what wakes Kanan every time.
Kanan never tells him “It’s fine.” He says, “You’re safe. You’re here. That’s what matters.”
Sometimes Ezra asks about people Kanan lost, not to pry, but to understand. Kanan answers honestly, because pretending things didn’t hurt would be unfair to both of them.
After Malachor, Kanan would meditate near Ezra’s bunk. He said it was to “stay centered.” Ezra knew it was to make sure he didn’t slip too far away.
Kanan teaches him grounding through the Force, “Find one sound, one scent, one feeling that’s now.” Ezra always chooses the gentle hum of their Force Bond.
Ezra learns to breathe again by syncing with Kanan’s steady breathing during meditation. He doesn’t notice at first, Kanan does.
Ezra built his second lightsaber entirely on his own, but when he handed it to Kanan months later for inspection after they reconciled, he waited like a child waiting for approval. Kanan didn’t say much, just smiled, ignited it, and said, “That’s you.”
After long missions, Ezra sometimes falls asleep sitting against Kanan’s shoulder. Kanan stays still until he wakes.
Hera once caught Kanan smiling to himself after a chaotic day. “What’s funny?” she asked. He said, “He’s still alive. That’s more than I deserve to ask for.”
When Kanan lost his sight, Ezra’s voice became his compass. When Ezra lost Kanan, memory became his.
Ezra talks to him sometimes through the Force, not expecting a reply, but feeling one anyway: warmth, calm, love, and pride.
When he meditates now, he hears two heartbeats in the Force; his own, and one steady echo of his master’s.
Ezra often whispers “I hope you’d be proud”
On Lothal, when the wind moves through the grass, it sounds like Kanan’s voice saying, “You did good, kid.”
