Imagine watching Zuko break into several highly secure locations, hold his own in hand-to-hand combat despite being a bender, and being a firebender skilled enough to train the Avatar, and being braindead enough to call him incompetent.
Imagine watching Zuko being the only character with the sense to try and get people to train when Sozin’s comet is a matter of days away and thinking it’s unreasonable to call him the dad friend.
And yes, I ship him with Katara. I think she fits the mom friend role too—and this is so obvious that other characters acknowledge it verbatim in canon. Big surprise, a lot of people happen to ship the two characters who display the most emotional maturity together.
I get the whole thing about how it’s unfair to put that responsibility on kids, but that’s just how it was in canon. If you don’t like it, be angry at the writers for writing it that way, not at me for pointing it out.

And like, no you don’t have to agree with people who insist every victim looks, acts, and even feels a certain way about their abuse or their abuser. Saying Bruce isn’t a victim of the Joker is kind of like saying Superman isn’t a victim of Lex Luther because Lex isn’t going to kill Superman. But thats only because he wants to crack open Clarks ribcage while he’s still awake and slowly dissect him for parts. Joker won’t kill Bruce, but he will maim him, or beat him, or force him to watch people die while laughing about how it’s Bruce’s fault for not killing him etc etc etc, Bruce is the original Harley Quinn in Jokers mind. Like thats kind of what Joker wants from him. “Well he didn’t kill him!!” Yeah that’s because he wants to keep hurting him.

It's such a good, wholesome manga. I got into it very late, just last year, but that meant I had the joy of binging like 16 volumes of it.
People who think Makoto is boring just fell for his words so hard, it's almost embarrassing. Guys, he literally told us to think of him as the most average and boring person. Then he turned around and tried to punch a mechanical bear. Makoto is a reliable narrator for everything but himself.
makoto naegi is so funny to me because in the process of making him normal and bland they made him fucking insane. like you can tell in the eng translation how hard they were trying to make him Just A Regular Guy when thats hagakure actually. naegi is somehow weirder for being basically the same person the whole way through and locking in when everyone is breaking down. people are screaming shaking sobbing and this guy who looks actually rather put together if a bit stressed is solving a murder while the people you see in the speedway at midnight are either trying to prove him wrong or offering absolutely no helpful evidence. people's lives are in the line. he keeps shouting "no that's wrong" and somehow he's right
they got being a regular guy right with hinata. naegi is just a freak
we as a society don't talk enough about how Makoto's response to every trauma he experiences in this game is to power-nap the depression away.
Watch the motive video right after breakfast at 7 am? Sleeps all the way through the day until it's almost 10 pm, and then proceeds to immediately go back to sleep. Bro saw his family die and said honk shoo. When he gets a cold in chapter 5, he sleeps so heavily he undoes his memory erasure. Bro falls down who knows how many feet headfirst into the trash chasm and sleeps it off, no injuries. Naptime will solve all your problems, guaranteed
