I know I’m a little late, but #HappySiblingsDay to my favorite sister! The first two photos are very meaningful to me because in this first photo, that’s the only good photo we got before I was too emotional and wasn’t able to take any more because I knew my sister was moving soon. The second photo was when my sister gave me her hat to borrow so that I wouldn’t burn my Accutane skin in the burning sun at Dorney Park. With everything going on right now, it really makes me think about things that I’ve taken for granted. For example, the fact that I have an entire bookshelf full of @cassieclare1 books. I am incredibly lucky to be able to own all of these books and to look forward to the rest she will write. With the prospect of that taken away, I realize how much I took it for granted before. Percy Jackson and the Olympians taught me growing up that being different doesn’t make you weird. You can find a place where you belong with the right people. It taught me that blonde girls can be smart and that loving to read books is a strength and not something to be ashamed of. It taught me that girls can be strong and they don’t have to let boys be in charge. It taught me to take on the world even if everything and everyone is against you. It gave me a family and this show has just brought me home for the past three years. The music and the show will live on. Not many people probably know this, but this is what my skin looked like in February of 2018. I always wore makeup partly because I love it but also because I was embarrassed of my face. I noticed my skin starting to look unmanageable about a year before this picture. I had not changed any eating habits or products that I was using. There was no noticeable reason for it to look like this. After trying multiple medications and feeling completely hopeless, my dermatologist and I decided to try Accutane. I took a picture every month for the six months I was on Accutane and if you scroll through, you will see them. This year, I am very thankful for modern medicine. I finally feel comfortable enough to be out in public without any makeup. In fact, I rarely wear it anymore. I feel the best I ever have when I wake up and look in the mirror every morning.
