Thirteen years ago today the Skeleton War of Lordaeron began.

The heroic skeletons of the Skeleton War may have at a time been the one thing that kept the Scourge from overwhelming Azeroth.  From the little remaining knowledge of the event, the Skeleton War was a short and bloody war between a mass skeleton army, intended to be reinforcements for the Cult of the Damned, and the Cult itself.

They too were freed from the will of the Lich King during the same moment of weakness that the Forsaken were freed.  Once able to act on their own, the skeletons were dazed and confused.  They found themselves set in ranks prepared to attack Darrowshire.  The only recorded statement from any of the skeletons was the one that signalled the attack.  One brave Skeleton turned towards the Cult necromacers at the backlines and raised his sword to the sky, cackling out a phrase that echos through the history books even today.

“Let’s spook these fuckboys!  Rattle their bones!”

And the battle began, lasting less than ten minutes.  The divided forces of the Cult could hardly stand against the overwhelming mass  of angry, clattering bones.  The skeleton fodder washed over the physically weak necromancers, killing nearly all of them.  The necromancers, assisted by some abominations and ghouls managed to put down the rebel skeletons.
