Prophet Muhammad lived a simple life and gave all his wealth to the poor.
And Muslims followed the Prophet as a model to become the owners of the wealth of Paradise.
They sacrificed their lives and property.
Imam Ali (AS) quotes the Prophet (PBUH): “God has placed the provisions of the poor in the wealth of the rich; no poor person remains hungry except because of what the rich person has withheld from him.”
Giving Away His Last DatesOne well-known example of the Prophet’s generosity even in hardship occurred when a poor person came to him asking for food. At that time, the only food in the Prophet’s house was a few dates. He gave them all away to the needy, leaving nothing for his own family that day. This act reflects his consistent priority: caring for others before himself.
Anas ibn Malik reported: Fatimah (may god be pleased with her) once brought a piece of barley bread to the Prophet (peace be upon him). He asked, “What is this, Fatimah?” She replied, “It is a loaf I baked, and my heart was not at ease until I brought some to you.” The Prophet said, “O daughter, this is the first food to enter your father’s mouth in three days.” (Narrated in Tabarani and similar sources.)b) The Prophet’s Simple Provisions
Aisha reported: The Prophet slept on a bed made of palm fiber. When a woman from the Ansar sent him a woolen mattress, he returned it, saying: “O Aisha, if I had wished, god would have given me mountains of gold and silver.”c) The Mark of the Mat
Imam Ali (peace be upon him) reported that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “god has placed the sustenance of the poor in the wealth of the rich. No poor person remains hungry except due to what the rich have withheld from him.” (This reflects the strong Islamic emphasis on the rights of the poor, including through zakat and voluntary charity.)

His Final DaysDuring his final illness, when people wanted to bring him better medicine or food, he refused anything that was not available to the poorest members of his community. He would only accept what the weakest and neediest of his Ummah could also obtain.He left this world exactly as he had lived — free from worldly attachments. The Prophet (peace be upon him) departed without any gold, silver, or property. The only item remaining was his armor, which had been pawned to a Jew in exchange for barley to feed his family.
He passed away in the same simplicity with which he had lived: unburdened and detached from the vanities of this world.
Abdullah ibn Mas’ud said: The Prophet slept on a mat, and when he rose, its imprint was visible on his side. Someone suggested spreading something softer, but he replied: “What have I to do with this world? My example in this world is like that of a rider who rests under the shade of a tree, then leaves it and continues on his way.”
said: “How excellent is lawful wealth in the hands of a righteous person.” He did not reject wealth itself, but attachment to it and its misuse.He emphasized generosity and warned against hoarding. On one occasion, after the Asr prayer, he rushed home and returned quickly. He explained that he had remembered some gold meant for charity was still at home, and he disliked that night should fall while it remained undistributed.
(Sahih Bukhari)He also said that if he were given a mountain of gold, he would not like to keep even a single dinar beyond three days, except what was needed to repay debts.At the time of his death, the Prophet (peace be upon him) left behind neither a dinar nor a dirham, nor any slaves. He left only his white mule, his weapons, and a piece of land in Khaybar that he had designated for charity. His armor had been pawned with a Jew in exchange for barley. On Cleanliness, Modesty, and EqualityThe Prophet (peace be upon him)
said: “Indeed, god loves that when one of you comes to his brothers, he should appear in good condition and be clean.” He himself was always clean and pleasant-smelling.He helped with household chores, repaired his own shoes and clothes, and refused special treatment. While traveling, he would gather firewood himself, saying he disliked being distinguished from others. He forbade people from standing up for him in an exaggerated manner or treating him like a king. On one occasion, he told a nervous man: “Calm down! I am not a king. I am only the son of a Qurayshi woman who eats dried meat.”
