Would love to hear more of your thoughts on Andor!! Particularly Mon and Luthen ☺️
I absolutely loved Andor, the series was so well directed and each character had so much depth and development throughout the series. One thing I loved was how they built the Imperial officers which is not something you see in star wars in general. They added substance to Dedra and Syril which made their characters interesting. Cassian, I absolutely loved, he went on from searching for his sister to becoming a part of something much bigger. The series give him much more weight especially if you have watched Rogue One and how it goes.
Coming to Mon and Luthen, they were my top favourites along with Cassian and Kleya. Mon was the face of the rebellion, a rebellion which could only become as significant as it did because of a ruthless mastermind like Luthen. The way both of them were so contradictory but so relevant to the Rebellion in their own ways was interesting to see. Mon was one of the founders of the rebellion, the face of it in the midst of the Empire especially after her declaration of the rebellion speech in senate. She was the diplomatic genius while Luthen was the dedicated radical for whom the cause was utmost important. He knew what needed to be done in the moment and never wavered. His ambitions reflected the rebellion’s and he sacrificed so much to make sure there is a sunrise he knows he’ll never see.
I think that is why I loved the Chandrillan wedding scene (+ the banger Niamos remix🔥) so much where Mon realises how much is sacrificed, overlooked, taken care of to make sure the rebellion continues when she sees Luthen hinting on the fact that Tay is a threat and Mon must be protected first. It was fun to see how normal and casual it was for Luthen to suggest subtracting someone from the equation and how exasperating and mind bending it was for Mon to see it was her childhood friend who had to be removed.
Overall I loved the series so much, especially the fact that Mon along with Bail were kind of the mom and dad of the rebellion with their ideals while Luthen and Saw were the uncles who actually got shit done. Andor as a series gave much depth to what I had seen in Rebels plus for Rogue One and the original trilogy too.
