Top: Lee Bontecou, an American sculptor and printmaker and a pioneer figure in the New York art world. She kept her work consistently in a recognizable style and received broad recognition in the 1960s.

Middle: Frida Kahlo de Rivera was a Mexican painter who mostly painted self-portraits. Inspired by Mexican popular culture, she employed a naive folk art style to explore questions of identity, postcolonialism, gender, class and race in Mexican society.

Bottom: Maria Montoya Martinez was a Native American artist who created internationally known pottery. Maria, her husband Julian, and other family members examined traditional Pueblo pottery styles and techniques to create pieces which reflect the Pueblo people’s legacy of fine artwork and crafts.

Salvage yard scrap copper with scarlet red and turquoise patina solutions brushed on. The red patina is applied to copper strips heated over an oil lamp flame. The process time is usually 3-4 days.
