god forbid you’re a nurse on any form of social media

people will project the entirety of their medical trauma onto you caused by failings of capitalism onto you and feel absolutely convicted in it as if it’s revolutionary to put the punishment of a system’s failing on those who work in an industry that, let’s be real, is largely women.

very rarely do people go into nursing as a profession to harm others. like any career where you are given some form of authority over the vulnerable sectors, there will be weirdos that want to use the field to get access and proximity to people they can abuse, which is a terrible thing to happen in healthcare more than any other field because it’s your health and it’s so vulnerable, but it’s not like… a thing where mean girls or abusers come in droves to this field to exert power. nursing school is not fucking easy and a lot of these weirdos get weeded out pretty fast. most of the bad nurses i know are people who don’t take it seriously enough or understand the complexity of caring for another in that capacity, but it isn’t like… intentional where they get euphoria from abusing patients. they’re just kinda shitty because they probably should have gotten another job but they liked the job security. a lot of bad nurses are also just people put into unsafe patient to nurse ratios or failed by lack of adequate safeguarding. idk. i also wonder if y’all can find a way to talk about your medical trauma and your valid distrust of the system without shitting on a whole population of people uncritically.
