i think it’s funny how many people call caduceus a therapist when like… oh my god this boy would make a terrible therapist LMAO
1) he has his own issues to work out; part of his arc was literally him learning to be okay prioritizing himself and .. to not just try to fix people.
2) his actual advice and methods? so hit or miss. i love him but he really does rely so much on wisdom (specifically insight), so a lot of his advice ends up being—while largely inspiring—vague and sometimes completely off mark. also his tendencies to cast calm emotions on himself (and caleb that one time, which he resisted) points to maybe him not having the best coping strategies.
anyways, caduceus brought a lot of amazing qualities to the m9, including some much needed self reflection and zen, but whenever i see people call him a therapist it kind of makes me cringe. the sentiment itself isn’t bad: it’s just that i’m so used to this fandom pushing cad into the background, and only using him as a convenient person to provide comfort to the rest of the m9 in their hurt/comfort fics. it reduces his character, and makes it really hard to find fan content of caduceus just.. living his life.. or working out his own shit.
(to clarify: this isn’t meant to be hate towards anyone who has said this. i know a lot of the people who do say it in a joking context, or without deeper meaning attached to it; it just irks me to see it said so much, while actual cad content and meta remains so scarce.)
