Honestly, a big part of why I'm excited about @jdragsky's Seven Part Pact is that it'll be nice to have a baroquely maximalist tabletop-RPG-meets-board-game actually available in print that isn't Chuubo's Marvelous Wish-Granting Engine.

(Like, not that I'm sick of CMWGE by any means, but it would be good to have an example of the type I can recommend to people who would prefer to at least occasionally roll dice!)

Alternatehistory.com works so well as a site because it's basically split 50/50 between powerscaling sons and shipping daughters where half the userbase are powerscaling sons (gender neutral) who love writing about the technological and scientific innovations, economic and military details of it all and how their chosen blorbo empire could have totally industrialized and taken over the world if they just had the right forward-thinking visionary leader and the other half are shipping daughters (gender neutral) who would do anything to make Catherine of Aragon happy and with a loving husband and would gladly gut Henry VIII open like a damn fish if they could. And both of them fucking hate the Habsburgs.

I called the series Lost Keys Jangling on a Keyring because the main characters (except for Ningal, sort of) are lost to the Hotel but are bound together like keys on the same keyring. They can't leave the Hotel without some outside interference most likely, and they can't help but bump against each other because of their confined space. They also open doors for each other.
