since she’d woken up naeun hadn’t stopped moving. the anxiety of finally getting to meeting her friend was quickly eating her away. although she’d expected that this day would arrive, now that it was here she couldn’t believe it was happening. it all felt surreal. from the moment she’d left the apartment building, her body had been operating in autopilot. before she knew it she was standing in front of the cafe unsure as to how she got there. taking a deep breath she tried to keep it together. the last thing she wanted was to let her nerves ruin their precious meeting. she’d already experienced it once, back when they first skyped, but thankfully she could always count on keith to lighten the mood. shaking her head, as if to drive the bad thoughts away, she stepped into the establishment. the sound of her name being called the minute she stepped inside startled her. turning towards the source of the sound, she couldn’t help but giggle when she caught sight of him. blind with excitement, the boy didn’t seem to realise that his voice had drawn the attention of the other customers. “ keith ! ” she exclaimed making her way towards him. “ so glad i can finally meet you. i can’t believe it’s been so long since we first met ! ” 

naeun wasn’t a fan of parties. never have and never will be. she couldn’t understand the appeal people saw in them. her sister had tried to explain it to her countless amounts of times but it was all for naught. naeun had always put comfort before everything else. she’d much rather stay indoors than face an enviorment full of glinting lights and wasted people. although that mentality of hers still remained, here she was, standing inside a rumbuctious club full of everything she hated. the only thing that made this bearable ( pleasurable even ) was the music. not just any type of music — but his music. she didn’t know how he did it but whatever that boy touched became gold. noticing that the music had changed, naeun took that as her cue to leave for there was no point on hanging around the club if he wasn’t the dj. what she didn’t expect, however, was to come face to face with him so soon. “ i’ll try but i can’t make any promises. ” laughing she took a seat next to him. “ after all, these babies can double as murder weapons. ”

she was told that time healed all wounds but it sure as hell didn’t feel that way. just the sight of him was enough to leave her in an emotional turmoil. it was as if an electric current had hit her body. one word. that’s all it took for her senses to be completely overwhelmed and she hated it. she hated how weak she became in front of this man. oh, how she wished he no longer had an effect on her. she wanted to prove to him that she’d move on, that he meant nothing to her but try as she may she couldn’t deny reality. she was no longer in control of her body. as soon as she heard the familiar sound roll off his lips her heart skipped a beat. ‘ why ? ’ she wondered. ‘ why now ? ’ she didn’t understand. where did he get the right to waltz into her life after all the sleepless nights she’d spent over his text. she deserved a better break up — a cleaner one. keeping her emotions in check, she picked herself off the ground. “ wil do. ” she nodded but not before wondering what his words could’ve meant. this wasn’t how it was supposed to go. she’d run this scenario in her head so many times. what she’d say, what she’d do but now that she was staring at the real thing it was as if her monologue was now a thing of the past. all the pent up resentment, anger and sadness she’d been holding was still there ... but now there was also joy. the joy of seeing the man she once loved back again in her life. she wanted to laugh at how foolish it all was. remind herself of all the pain he’d put her through, of all the tears she’d shed on that day but she couldn’t deny the happiness he’d given her before it all went south. raising her eyes to meet his, she took a deep breath and answered his question. “ yes ... do you ? ” she asked, unsure as to what was the answer she was seeking. 

from the moment she’d left the bank’s premises, naeun had been glued to her phone screen. fingers tapping the screen as fast as she could possibly muster, the brunette kept uttering a non stop string of curses beneath her breath. from a strangers perspective, the girl must’ve been facing a life or death situation — what with the desperation oozing out of their every pore. but the truth wasn’t very far off. naeun had been waiting months to be contacted regarding the resume she’d sent in. although it'd be her first time acting as a beta tester, she couldn’t resist being the first to try out one of the videogames by her favorite company. refreshing the page for the unpteenth time, and just when she was about to loose all hope, the heavens answered her prayers. “ i got in ! ” she screamed, fist pumping the air. blinded by the excitment, she didn’t notice the person in front of her until their bodies collided with each other. “ sorr-  ” falling onto the concrete, she inmediatly apologised to the other party only for the word to end up stuck on her throat once she caught sight of his face. gaping at him like a godlfish, her mood took a sudden turn for the worse. she hadn’t planned this, heck she hadn’t even expected it. the joy from before was gone, instead it’d been replaced with anxiety. from the corner of her eye she eyed the gates of the apartment, wondering how long it’d take her for her to be inside the comfort of her own room if she made a dash for it. but before her mind could settle on a rational decision, she was already pronouncing his name. “ k-kihyun ? ” she stumbled unsure if her eyes were playing a trick on her.
