Halloween is here on Parallel! 🎃

Not only are there spooky scary skeletons sending shivers down your spine, but also there are some awesome new Halloween changes that have arrived! Let's get into them:

First up, the entire spawn town has been redecorated to look more revolting and repulsive than ever! Check out dozens of new Halloween displays and hidden secrets (more than we've ever added before), including one very special puzzle by our builder KJwacky that you'll have to acquire some items for...

Next, the Haunted House has made its grand return! To get there, head to the left of the clock tower in the center of the spawn town. Be sure to follow its directions for the optimal frightening experience!

And finally, 10 new Halloween candies have been added! Eating them will give you a random, albeit brief, buff. You can get them by trick-or-treating throughout the spawn town or by killing certain hostile mobs! Can you find all of the candy bowls in the spawn town? Each candy is dropped by one specific mob, so you'll have to figure out which ones they are!

There will also be an all-new Halloween event coming closer to Halloween, but for now, we can't wait to see you all online in your spookiest temperaments!

# Part 3 of the Parallel Community Update IS HERE!

This is the final part of the Community Update, complete with a bunch more player-requested features and fixes! Let's get into the main features of this update:

## Entertainment District Overhaul 🎪

The Entertainment District has been rebuilt from the ground up to offer tons more games and activities, a better layout, and clearer directions for games! There are 4 brand new hide and seek arenas, a MASSIVE ice boat racing course, a revamped Red Rose arena, and ~~food trucks~~ much, much more! Want to add games to the District? Come on down and pick some of the fresh land to start building today!

## Proximity Voice Chat 🎙️

By installing the Plasmo Voice Fabric mod, players can now use proximity voice chat in-game! This means that you'll be able to talk to other players directly within Minecraft itself, with the added perk of players getting louder and softer as they get closer to and further away from you! Note that this mod is optional; only the players with the mod installed can hear each other! Be careful speaking in ancient cities, though...

## Pets! 🐶

Donator ranks now have access to tons of different pet mobs, ranging from sheep to camels to even the warden! Additionally, you can change a ton of properties about your pets, and you can even ride them! Check our website page https://parallelmc.org/pets/ to see which ranks have access to which pets!

## Custom Note Block Music

Diamond rank players now have access to the `/music` command, where you can play over 100 different note block songs and have access to the server radio! You can even even buy a special Jukebox from Rudy's Forge to place down in the world and play these songs from! Make your parties that much more awesome with Creeper Aw Man, or rickroll someone within Minecraft itself!

## Tons of New Items 🥫

Gino now sells Pizza and Sushi Rolls, each of which have special effects! Red now sells a Flight Accelerator that you can hold to fly twice as fast in Space! Vanessa Moore now sells two new lore books! Hal now sells a White Top Hat (with more cosmetic items around the corner)! AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!

Also, some of the older fishing items do special things now (check #patch-notes in our Discord)! However, due to internal changes, only __new__ fishing items can be smelted/interacted with. Ask a staff member if you want to swap your old items out for some new ones!

## New Emojis 😍

Five more emojis have been added from our server texture artist, CallMeSquidKid! `:wink:`, `:triumph:`, `:sob:`, `:smile_tear:`, `:rage:`, and `:smiling_imp:`! They are the pixelated versions of these, respectively: 😉, 😤, 😭, 🥲, 😡, and 😈. Go ahead and express yourself more than ever before!

First off, thank you so much for sticking with this slight delay; we've been working crazy hard to squash bugs and glitches. We've had a ton of fun putting together this wacky hodgepodge of features for you over the course of the Community Update this summer; we loved seeing what all of you did with these new additions, and we have big plans for updates to keep on rolling. We'll have a blog post coming out soon that will recap all of the big features for the Community Update, and the trailer will also be coming soon to do that a bit more cinematically! PART 3 OF THE COMMUNITY UPDATE IS COMING THIS SATURDAY!

As summer winds to a close, we are excited to announce that the final part of the Community Update is releasing THIS SATURDAY, August 26th!

For those of you who are new and aren't familiar with what the basis for the Community Update is, this update is a massive hodgepodge of highly-requested features for the server! It expands the horizons of almost everything that makes Parallel unique, and it allows for more player expression, creativity, and individuality.

We have a bunch more features coming this Saturday to round out the Community Update and draw it to a close; new items, new areas, new mechanics, and new donor perks only crack the surface! Check the #teasers channel in our Discord throughout the rest of the week for some sneak peeks, and you can even find some special secrets in the image above! We'll be back in the coming days to give you some more details about what's happening this Saturday.

Lastly, we hope that you've enjoyed all that the Community Update has had to offer thus far; we've had a ton of fun working hard to implement everything in it, and we hope you've had fun playing. Parallel is officially a NETWORK!

That's right - all Parallel servers are now linked together under one roof! We've implemented a few neat things that we could now do because of this:

>1) A hub server - Parallel now has a hub, connectable via `hub.parallelmc.org`! This lobby area has portals to access all other Parallel servers, plus a little parkour area! This parkour may come in handy because of...

2) Automatic reconnecting - whenever a Parallel server restarts, you'll be automatically sent to the lobby and then automatically pulled back once the server comes back online! No more tears shed because the server restarted while you were AFK!

>3) Server switching you can now access any Parallel server from any other server without having to manually disconnect from one server and connect to another! Just type `/server [name]` and then you'll whoosh on over to the other server!

We're really sorry that maintenance took so long today - we ran into way more roadblocks and weird quirks than expected. A lot of time was spent debugging various things so that the player experience would be as smooth as possible, but there could still be (and probably are) bugs! If you see or experience anything out of the ordinary, *let us know* so that we can fix it! As always, be sure to read the #patch-notes channel in our Discord for every change and fix!

While the Parallel Team is busy working tirelessly on Part 3 of the Community Update, we've whipped up something else to bring to you...

Introducing PARALLEL HEIGHTS!

Have you ever wanted to live in a high-rise apartment building with all of your friends? Do you want to be part of an eclectic area where things are always happening? Welcome to **Parallel Heights,** your brand new home away from home!

To get to Parallel Heights, head to the portal pad at spawn or head behind Nojoe tower at the back left of the Shopping District. Be sure to read the InfoBooks at the front desk (and say hi to Buddy, hard at work!) and then click the sign to deposit 100 riftcoins and get build access! Once you've done that, head upstairs to claim a vacant room and get started on creating your very own personalized apartment room!

Parallel Heights is also complete with a cafe run by one of our builders, Asher, an indoor pool, a working elevator, and much more! We're also open to suggestions for decoration, and players with apartment access actually have building access to everywhere upstairs!

We hope that Parallel Heights gives all of you a neat little extra thing to do in the interim before our last part of the Community Update, and we can't wait to see what all of your rooms become!
