PARADIGM THRIFT

     a. Friday the 13th: Mother’s Day - Eric Morse (1994)

When I’m out thrifting I always keep an eye out for certain types of items; video games, action figures, comic books, board games, etc.  But above all of that, there is one thing that I never pass up an opportunity to buy...pre-recorded blank VHS cassette tapes. Those lonely black slabs are almost always overlooked but to me they are unbelievably mysterious. What could possibly be on that tape? Some random family’s home movies from Christmas 1993? Six hours of Saturday Morning Cartoons from 1987 complete with commercial breaks? The possibilities are near endless, but for $1 I will gladly roll the dice every time. After years of collecting I’ve finally started digitizing those tapes and will be posting those wonderful commercials from the 80′s and 90′s to YouTube under the channel VHS Party.
