i think there’s something so awful in a) michael sr purposefully set mike up on a suicide mission as a way of getting rid of him permanently and b) mike knowing this and still going as his means of proving something. he hates his father as much as he hates craving his attention and love despite having never received it, and he had this foolish, passing thought that “if [i] make it out of here alive, he will finally acknowledge [me]”. but what merit does michael sr.’s opinion hold over his life when he’s been nothing to him all throughout it? when he was like an outline of a future mike could’ve had that he probably wouldn’t have wanted when he’d finally got it?

i know mike presents to be laidback and acts like a stereotypical jock, but he’s shown to deconstruct that very identity in his final moments and beyond. he brings himself down—he discounts his intelligence and he acts like someone who peaked in highschool—but it’s all, obviously, just a singular facet. it shows that as much as he is more than his guilt, he is also more than the rich quarterback son of a billionaire (on a side-note: i really love micro’s portrayal of mike. it’s not often i find myself liking mike’s certain character archetype but dude it’s been like 2? months and i’m still haunted by him ever so often. microghostyt we yes WE need you in more roleplay series).

and because i’m no one if not the philippines’ #1 quad glazer, i just have to say that my rhetorical was shortly followed by certain other thoughts.

like how meagon was probably a light in mike’s life and the first person to make him feel like his life is wanted after a long time of stewing in his own guilt. or how grayleigh turning up made him feel selfish for craving a semblance of normalcy in his fucked up life when pete couldn’t. and even more, how he’ll damn anyone to save rotation because he stopped being just rotation at some point.
