Beginning May 2nd, CyberConnect2’s RPG and shooter app game, Fullbokko Heroes X will crossover with Shingeki no Kyojin. Sasha, Cleaning! Levi, and Eren are all set to appear in the game. The collaboration runs from May 2nd though May 18th, with quest events beginning May 4th.
Update: The Rogue Titan was added to the game.

Yesssss my favorite app game is doing an AoT collab! And there are still more characters being added!! BTW even though the event hasn't started yet, you can already get Cleaning Levi as a mere login bonus. He has weak stats but an absurdly powerful lead skill that will be very, very useful for new players. Also, go here and here for free serial codes that you can enter to get feeders for leveling Levi.
For anybody interested: Soul Eater Online is ending in two months, today players got gifted with 9999 lottery stones, so I will be spending them all to see how many of the illustration cards I can get because what else am I going to do with that much non-transferable in-game currency. Will be posting the results on twitter over the next couple days, @PapermoonDeux .

As far as I’m aware there is no pirated version available online, but the book is available for legal purchase - in Japanese, of course - through any website or app that sells Kodansha digital editions. I personally recommend Kinoppy (http://k-kinoppy.jp), which is Japanese bookstore Kinokuniya’s version of the Kindle app. I buy most of my Japanese books through Kinoppy now and it’s really great. You can use it on a phone, tablet, or desktop computer - again, exactly like the Kindle app or Google Books.
Actually, speaking of Kindle… The book IS available in the Amazon.co.jp Kindle Store, but it appears to be region-locked so I can’t purchase it. Which is ridiculous because I could whip out my American credit card and buy a physical copy of the book to be shipped straight to the doorstep of my home halfway around the world with no problems, but Amazon won’t let me buy a digital copy of the book with the same credit card?! Somebody else might have better luck, though! I wonder if customers in other countries might be able to purchase digital books from AmazonJP? In the end it doesn't really matter, though, because if AmazonJP is going to region-lock their Kindle store then I and the rest if the barbarian gaijin can just buy the exact same books from their competitors - like, say, Kinokuniya. Which is exactly what I've been doing.
(Side note: It’s the 21st fucking century and I cannot fucking believe that region-locking digital books is a fucking thing that is actually fucking happening, but that is a rant for a different post. Ahem.)
Anywhoo all Japanese Kodansha books - including light novels and manga - are widely available for legal purchase through a variety of digital platforms. I bought my copy through Kinoppy, so that’s the store that I recommend, although I’m sure there are many other equally as good options out there.
And if you want a TRANSLATED version of the book, well… All you have to do is wait. I’m sure it will only be a matter of time before KodanshaUSA announces the license. Then you’ll be able to buy the book pretty much anywhere online.

I just realized that the Besstasu Shonen Magazine issue that featured Reiner’s naked picture also featured Chapter 39. Chapter 39 is the chapter that had Ymir and Reiner’s “no you’re gay” conversation.
Sadly no it wasn't actually in that issue. They printed a teaser of that pic on the cover but the actual drawings made by Isayama and other mangaka participating in the event weren't printed anywhere in the issue. The photograph of the "full" version of the Reiner pic that one Japanese fan posted on twitter was either a) printed in one of the Magazine spinoff issues or b) a very clever photoshop job. To this day I think the jury's still out on whether that photo of the Reiner pic is fake or not, at least as far as I'm aware.

He also didn’t just draw Pixis to look like Yoshifuru Akiyama - although merely drawing one of your cool heroes to look like a famous war criminal is generally something that, you know, is kind of fucking insensitive - he also said that he “respected” Akiyama, which…. well, this post provides a detailed explanation of Akiyama’s crimes against Korea so there you go. When Korean fans responded to Isayama’s statements in the comments on his blog he also proceeded to ridicule them and dismiss their concerns, too.
There’s still more. There’s modeling Erwin Smith after a Nazi general. There’s naming Mikasa after an infamous Japanese war ship. There’s a lot more but that’s just off the top of my head.
And I haven’t even touched on the implicit messages on Mikasa’s story arc in the manga itself, because that is a topic for another post.
So in short, no, we don’t call Isayama racist just because he drew a character to look like a certain infamous Japanese general, although that’s still a massively insensitive thing to do - especially when you also take into account Isayama stating that he respected said general and mocking Korean fans’ responses to his statements. No, we call Isayama a racist mostly because of, you know, the racist tweets. I mean. There’s just no other way to label the shit he spewed there. But even above and beyond the racist tweets there’s a ton of other stuff as well.
Do you happen to own the SnK Colossal Edition? The person in charge of the Kodansha Tumblr mentioned that it contains some differences from the already-published volumes (among those being new never-before-seen color pages, changes in spelling, like Karula -> Carla, removal of pronouns for Hange, etc.). Do you know of anything else? (if you happen to own a copy) I haven't seen people comment much about the Colossal Edition.
Unfortunately I haven’t gotten around to buying the Colossal Edition yet, as buying new editions of manga that I already own is perpetually low on my priorities list, so I don’t know. Although I think that the Kodansha tumblr is already being pretty straightforward about all of the changes that you can expect in the CE - I mean, the changes would be the main selling point and all. If you want to know if there are more changes than what Kodansha is already advertising, why not try sending an ask directly to the Kodansha tumblr? They seem pretty cool about answering those types of questions.

Anon, information about the extra scenes from the film is super-easy to find. Just use Google!!
As for when the film will be “online”…. uh, do you mean available in ye olde pirated torrentable version? The answer to that is “after it’s available in disc format in Japan.” So if you want to pirate the film, you’ll have to be patient. As for when the film might become available in legal streaming sources, your guess is as good as mine. There’s a very real possibility that North American fans might be able to legally stream the compilation films before they’re available streaming in Japan, depending on how the licensing plays out, but at this point there’s no reason to get your hopes up because who knows?
Can you tell me if there is any Armin content in Brutus? I'm not sure if I should order the magazine... If he at least were on the cover! ;)
There is definitely Armin content! But the issue covers pretty much everyone and everything, so if you want a LOT of any one character/topic you’ll probably be disappointed.

In chapter 3, Annie says "Don't think that I'm anything like you" or something like that. Since you own the Japanese version: is it clear whether she's addressing only Bertholt or him and Jean together? I was always wondering whether this is her showing disdain towards Bertholt alone or him together with Jean.
I always assumed that she was addressing Bertolt - I mean, that line was a direct response to HIS question - but the Inside Kou guidebook states that she was actually addressing Jean with that line, so there you go.

I'm Afro-Latina but the problem still remains that everybody else in the world gets lumped into one single ethnicity or even worse is erased completely from the setting, with the exception of the Asians who are "othered" into an empowered special race apart from everyone else. I can forgive the Ackermans since they're wholly fictional but the Asian thing makes me super uncomfortable unless the text acknowledges the existence of numerous other POC enclaves with gifts similar to the Asians.
You’re right, but at the same time I think we have to be careful about condemning Japanese media made in Japan for a Japanese audience for having an Asian heroine being the exceptional last survivor of what was explicitly stated to be a multi-racial genocide. (Also, apologies for the nitpick, but: the text DOES state that ALL other races share the same special power that the Asians have, namely, resisting the royal family’s mind control. That’s why they were eliminated. As for having superhuman abilities, the evidence in this chapter suggests that that’s an Ackerman thing rather than an Asian thing. I don’t think that the text sets Asians up as the exceptional race, but it does set up Mikasa as the exceptional survivor, and her race is of course a part of that which can’t be ignored.) I don’t think that the story is obligated to acknowledge all of the other races that were erased, nor to have more multi-racial enclaves of survivors outside the wall - although you’re right in that either thing would be a huge improvement. I can’t invalidate that the narrative as it stands now makes you uncomfortable, and you’re right, lumping every other race under the “and they all died” umbrella sucks. Especially given what we know about Isayama’s less-than-enlightened personal views about race.
I still think it’s completely fair to point and laugh at the sections of white fandom that are SUPER-CONCERNED about Asians being special, though!

I will never understand the impulse that some people have to pull that shit, whether on the internet or in real life. Yeah there's are a of lot of fandom topics that I find boring too (*cough*Levi*cough*), but at least I don't reblog posts in which other users are talking about Levi just to complain about how boring he is or to berate them for "overshadowing" the issues I care about by daring to spend time discussing something that *they* care about. Yes, when people send me asks SOLICITING my opinions about issues that I don't care about, I don't feel obligated to hide the lacks of fucks I give.
