Just some concept comics I made for Wukong and Macaque in the Isekai AU
I’m hoping to start drafting a longer comic for the actual beginning of this AU but outside of that I’m not sure if I’ll continue the comic or just write it down🤔🤔🤔
Shi’hou is a normal college student just trying to make it through school with an empty wallet and late night cup noodle dinners, one day she picked up a random novel she found lying on a bench outside her workplace in the middle of the night, with no owner around she took it home. Being a decent size, Shi’hou got curious real quick and spent the whole night reading it, the novel was fascinating in its worldbuilding and characters and the longer she read the more invested she got.
The story stars Sun Wukong, the Great Sage Equal to Heaven, and the King of the newly liberated Flower Fruit Kingdom, having fought in the frontlines in the rebellion to overthrow the tyrannical King of Confusion and after landing the final hit, she was crowned as the King of Flower Fruit Kingdom by the people, and worked hard to bring back the former glory the kingdom had prior to King Confusion. As the kingdom flourished, Sun Wukong’s wanderlust came back, having been a free soul and adventurer prior to starting the rebellion, she wanted to continue traveling, deciding to use the excuse to expand her kingdom, Sun Wukong began to conquer nearby lands, and this was how she met the future Queen of Flower Fruit Kingdom. The novel doesn’t focus much on the Queen character after she’s introduced, only mentioning how she ran the kingdom while Sun Wukong kept traveling and conquering more territory. Instead, the novel kept following Sun Wukong on her travels around the world, introducing the world and different people and kingdoms that the hero would find.
However, the novel lacked some pages and others were too faded to read, that Shi’hou had to skip a large part of the novel and when she began reading again she found there was a new main character introduced as Lady White, who appeared to be the main love interest to Sun Wukong, how that happened Shi’hou wasn’t too sure, but it seemed that the characters where now back at Flower Fruit Kingdom and the once world adventuring novel had suddenly turned into a romance centered novel. Shi’hou guesses she could see the appeal in the soft and kind Lady White, but something didn’t seem right, especially with the ever growing tensions within the palace that because of the romance storyline never got any focus on it.
Ultimately, the novel ended with Sun Wukong and Lady White getting together and living happily ever after, with no mention of everything or everyone else. It was disconcerting to say the least but an alright read in Shi’hou’s opinion for a random book she found lying around.
What Shi’hou didn’t expect was for the next day after work to find a smaller novel at the exact same space the previous one was, a little creeped out yet curious, Shi’hou found that the smaller novel was a sequel to the last book, what was even more unexpected was that the novel was in the perspective of the Queen of Flower Fruit Kingdom. Having never received much screen time, the Queen was an obscured character that was discarded by the King and later executed when her schemes to kill Lady White were revealed. Shi’hou had never agreed with the Queen’s treatment and pitied how everyone turned against her when the evidence used against her wasn’t even enough to prove her guilt.
Excited to read the novel, Shi’hou read it on her way to her apartment, but the further she read the darker the novel became, the sequel narrated what was left unsaid in the first book, the tensions and unnerved feeling Shi’hou felt when reading the first book was finally explained and Shi’hou couldn’t help but feel horror and pain for the suffering. it wasn’t until she read the final page that something clicked within her, but she wouldn’t have enough time to think about it when the screeching of tires was heard and Shi’hou felt immense pain before everything went dark.
